A petition is not only a petition to government, it's a way of making 10,000 people perform a deliberate physical act as a show of their desire for a rectangular stadium. You know how hard it is to get people to do anything?
Even if the petition fails in Parliament, it has made all signatories think about it and made them more aware. We need to keep momentum building until we get what we want. A petition is just a start, and you have to start somewhere....
These signatories could even be the influential high-flyers within WA that we are looking for or know them, and hence we could get them aboard that way.
Guys so sorry, ended up having to go into work yesterday morning so didn't get to rego- fantastic work Gigs, Jess, Jargs and Badger.. I'll have to hit up everyone at work on Monday to make up for it!
I slept through the academy game.Got home from work, crashed and didn't get woken up til 6:30.
But we're on to the second page of signatures in the store already. Practically everyone who came in yesterday signed it. Will continue to get signatures and will bring it home one night and get my family and my neighbours to sign too.
When's the deadline?
I made Happy sad...
I've been wondering that too. I seem to remember somebody suggesting (GIGS20?) it should be handed over to our politician sponsor on TV at the last home game. That gives us time to get to community match days, home games, pubs etc. I intend to ask a couple of "rugby friendly" shopkeepers, friends etc to have copies as well.
On the political sponsor - has anyone put their hand up to try and get one? Would it be a tough ask for our friendly ex-minister, given the government's stance? We might need to try for an opposition or independent member (are there any state independant members?). I'll try if nobody else is on it.
Forgive me if I'm going over old ground here, but I've had limited time to keep up with TWF lately.
wow!!! that is wonderful publicity! People will be expecting us at the games and will sign sign sign.
This is fantastic! Did anyone speak to the media or did they just visit TWF themselves?
I made Happy sad...
Pretty sure my local state just became an indepentent... Sue Walker.

Wooohooooooooo!!!!!!!!!
Good one if it was a tip off.
If not I'm not too surprised. Pretty sure Grumbles isn't the only journo who watches here. Last weeks WA press had an almost direct lift of a post here that compared the storm of outrage from the ARU about the "Left Bank Incident" to the attitude taken towards Waratahs players.
Better get her quick then, Jess.
My cousin is a journo for the West Australian... I could ask if she wants to do a story on us at some point.![]()
I made Happy sad...
Us "common folk" can't actually directly petition Parliament. We need a sponsoring member to do that. If we actually manage to get TV/Press coverage of the petition being handed over it would be to Sue Walker. At least that's as I understand it. Our resident legal eagle(s) may be able to clarify.
Well legal eagles... keep me posted. Will try and set up a meeting with her if need be.![]()
