So once again I seem to be the only one in Australia who thinks the guys should be allowed to have a night out when on tour. How many journalists were ex-players and did far worse in their playing days?
It seems to me that these guys need to go on tour and bond as a team which sometimes involves late nights and alcohol. Who cares? Did it impact on their performance four nights later? The boys seem to have put in a massive effort against Ireland, played like a team and seemed to be enjoying their rugby again. If that is the price of a night out then so be it.
RUPA had argued that there was no curfew in place, no ban on alcohol and the players had a day off the next day anyway. I agree.
...and another thing. Where players regularly play night games (finishing at 9pm on occasions) surely they should be allowed to be up later than your average punters (who finish work at 5pm) and not be expected to be in bed at 1030pm like the killjoy, boring, fun hating masses. Grow up everyone.
coz Stone Cold says so
JOC and Beale was another storm in a teacup except it was at the end (middle?) of a long line of minor indiscretions. That was a media beat-up. Missing a team bus (or missing any team stuff) is the real problem and was barely mentioned.
This is worse? What did they do wrong? Did they hurt anyone? Abuse anyone? Were they unable to preform their duties at training or in a game? Did they lose the game?

worse in the sense it was more against the unwritten standards of the team.
anything involving alcohol is always worse. no matter the outcome.
personally i've got a bigger problem with the no drinking except after the game kneejerk that Link has put in place.
i think it's completely fucking stupid that a bloke cant have a beer after busting his arse all day.
if you're really worried about people drinking too much. do what most construction sites do nowdays and line every bugger up in the morning for a breatho. if you're stupid enough to not be fit for work you should get put on a plane back home.
Your time is exactly that. your time. as long as you dont break the law in your personal time you shouldnt face any penalties at work. provided your personal life doesnt interfere with earning your living.
*edit* sorry - /rant, it's just a pet hate of mine based on my work experiences

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
If you want to beat the all blacks, you need to be at least as professional as them.

One thing I thought about - Cummins is playing with a broken/strapped hand. It doesn't seem to stop him playing and scoring, but I'm sure we'd like him to be 100% for the Force next season.
I've heard reports that alcohol slows healing, although they seem to be associated with the 'all alcohol is bad' type of reports. Does anyone here have any medical knowledge on the physiological effects of alcohol on the healing process?

Education is Important, but Rugby is Importanter!
Maybe, although from what i recall cycling home from University drunk on more than one occasion, alcohol migth cause accidents but also limits the seriousness of them due to being relaxed. (Relaxed as a newt!)
