They deserve it Scozzie, they played well!
I really don't understand the Sottish media beat up of this one. Apart from the dodgy yellow card (which was the TMO painting Joubert into a bit of a corner which he didn't bother exiting) and the penalty at the end (which was fair IMHO) Joubert was his usual hometown ref, pretty much ignoring the fact that Australia had a dominant scrum and Scotland were dealing with it by pushing off line and falling on their faces.
I think beating that drum does nothing more than cheapen what was a great result for Scotland, shaking up an Australian team who went into the match complacent, but weren't allowed to fix their problems when they woke up.
I think, at best, it was even and at worst he probably damages the Wallabies more than the Scots.
Can we just agree he was inaccurate at times but didn't have much of an impact on the match?
C'mon the
No. I'm not trying to say that Joubert was responsible for the result, it was more in light of a comment from Laidlaw after the game about not going to the TMO for the final penalty decision.
I'm not going to get into a discussion about decisions around the scrum penalties though, in my opinion, referees who've never played in the front row are not realy in a good position to judge. I'll leave it at that.
Wallabies have already won The Rugby Championship once this year, let's make it a double!!

He actually wasn't allowed - in this tournament the TMO can only be used for...
1) Determining the grounding of the ball in-goal for a try or touchdown and/or whether players were in touch or touch in goal before grounding.
2) Determining whether a kick at goal has been successful.
3) Confirm if an infringement has occurred in the build-up to a try or prevention of a try (infringement must be within two phases of the try or touchdown)
4) Considering acts of possible foul play.
Just had a read of what they're saying over the "dutch"

Some acknowledgement of the scrum debacle.
Which was?
Chuck Norris has the greatest Poker-Face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker, despite holding only a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoly card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game Uno.
the grand old timers should refresh themselves with the new rules and know the ref can't go to the TMO FFS. makes good copy though.
if any team should be aggrieved it should be us over Joubert's reffing of the scrum. sio is injured and this does not bode well for us. i think he has been the standout in the front row. if he is not there not sure how we will go.
Non sunt multiplicanda entia sine necessitate
According to the article below, the TMO can rule on whether tries or kicks at goal are legitimate:

Look, I'm again not trying to say the ref was right or wrong in his decision, just that Laidlaw and the Scottish coaching staff were (.....possibly quite rightly) angered by his final penalty decision. I'm not going to let it take anything away from what I thought was a good, competitive game, that could easily have gone either way. As I've said before, I hope the Wallabies can now go all the way, and I believe this current Scottish team can hold their heads high............even if there are a few "ring-ins", but Scotland are not alone there, as discussed in another thread...!
Who would be a ref??? and who would be a coach..???
