yes foxtell are showing the game live.
State of Origin has been shown at 7:30pm not 9:30pm (that or you go down the pub and watch it live via imparja)
And i believe the Federal Government last year changed the anti-siphoning laws in regards to sport because FTA networks are useless wankers.
Im sure that foxsports will win the ratings tomorow night against channel 7 in regards to this issue.
I read an article 2 or 3 months ago that said that FTA networks were concerned about more and more people signing up for foxtell and they wonder why after this?? They need a swift kick up the arse. Good thing i never watch channel 7 anyway.
What we're seeing is the result of different viewing audiences. Ch 7 and co still primarily see their audiences as "nuclear families" and baby boomers. Foxtel users are probably more likely to get news from internet rather than TV, be gen Y representation, download shows they want, want to choose what they want to watch rather than being told... hey, isn't that partly what digital was supposed to deliver? Hey, weren't FTA stations supposed to be getting on with this?
FTA is losing audiences because it has failed to understand the nature of entertainment and the changes in demand for it. "If you're on a good thing, flog it to death" will be on the tombstones of FTA channels if they don't extract their rather useless digits. FTA have no-one but themselves to blame.

In the UK they have a TV license don't they? If this kind of measure allows our 'FTA' stations to raise thier game to the levels of the BBC well bring it on.
on that topic tragic, channel 10 still think big brother is a winner![]()

I'm sure it is or they wouldn't show it anymore. The other networks and papers love to talk it up how the ratings aren't that great anymore. But I really don't think channel 10 cares. They would get heaps of money from phone in votes. And as with the Rugby you get a big audience from a target group. IE for Big Brother big percentage of the female teen audience, as well as the 20-30 age group. Companies who want to sell their product to these groups would pay more for advertising even though they are getting less people.
If it's all that, I expect to see BB09, with revenues still more than production costs, which is really what it's about.

That in itself is a problem for the ARU, who need to grow the game's audience. AFL fans in WA are not interested in paying for Foxtel, they have plenty of their brand on FTA. The FTA networks run on ratings and advertising. AFL is more ad-friendly as it's easy to slot in ads with every goal. Not many non-rugby sports fans are likely to sit up until midnight to watch the match, so it doesn't rate, so they don't want to show it live next time.......and on it goes.
Even when the FTA networks do show RU live most RU people will watch Fox, if they have it, because there's no ads during the match, so the telecast on FTA doesn't rate well so they are reluctant to show it live next time, and on it goes.......................

i remember a few years ago both channel 7 and foxsports showed a bledisloe cup game "live" and the channel 7 telecast finished 15 minutes later because of all the ads 7 had stuck in the coverage
The best way to watch the Wallabies - Ireland test tomorrow is LIVE at Telstra Dome like Happy, Harry and me.
