So good to see more people playing the game. I was pilloried when pushing for S.L. Arks, Curtin to join the Premiergrade Comp. They knew there would be some cricket scores, but credit to them all for sticking to the plan and fielding teams. Great to see Perth Irish also have good numbers for 2 teams, they would acquit themselves very well against most 3rd grade sides.
You are still delusional .
This “experiment” has failed miserably. 3 years in and cricket scores still remain the norm. Top 6 clubs using these games to rest players and still crickets score .
Now rumours of the Force re-allocating players away from bottom end and sending them to top 6 clubs so they can get quality game time and Force players not making themselves available to lower clubs. Talks of a breakaway comp with top clubs . Lower clubs cannot recruit or retain talent . RWA trying to implement an anti-poaching points policy .
I agree it is good see these lower clubs still fighting for survival but the impact on the overall standard has been catastrophic.
You call it a “success” whilst those left at RWA scramble to fix the mess.
Pretty well nailed it wjm apart from the numbers, word on the street is it's actually going to be 8 clubs not 6
Wests Scarborough 1st Grade juggernaut has played finals rugby each and every year since its inception and continues this remarkable feat yet again this season and unbelievably it's still rolling on and as an added little circle jerk for the masses Wests actually hold the record for the current longest unbroken finals record.
Ahhh, wjm and Westies man - you sound just like Cameron Clyne and Bill Pulver " Lets' shrink to greatness".
Look back at the beginnings of a few Prem Clubs. I think Neddies took some 10-15 years from inception to make the finals.
"From little things Big Things grow" as long as guys like yourselves see benefit in trashing every attempt to grow the game and offer no sensible alternative nor put your hands up to engage and grow the game, yes doom and gloom and glasses half empty will rule the day.
Hansie , this competition will never be even when we have clubs bringing players from the UK who last played on 29th May 2021 for the Cornish pirates , and plays last weekend for Nedlands . When we have people in Perth that cant get the own family members back into this country and they where born and raised in Perth .
Fair call. When Sinders was CEO and we were still in the comp pre 2017, we whinged at the ARU about a fair method of player recruitment and advocated some sort of draft. Whilst that cannot happen in Community here, there needs to be some constraints on parachuting players in. It has been a vexed issue for decades, there is no silver bullet and when you do try to clip the wings of the long term premier clubs, you get back stabbed and dumped - I know.
