To take up boxing?!?! Wtf? He can't put a decent hit on during a fucking rugby game. Has never showed any mettle apart from cheap shots with his knee.

How's he gonna go going at it for 12 rounds?

Nasser will get him in a late start deal up north methinks

Quade Cooper reportedly quits Australian rugby following lousy offer from ARU

News broke on the Nine Network on Monday evening that Cooper would be lost to the code but Australian and Queensland rugby officials aren't sure whether the report was accurate or a tactic to garner a better top-up contract from the Australian Rugby Union.
Neither the ARU nor QRU had been informed by Cooper or his agent, Khoder Nasser, that he intended tearing up his three-year Super Rugby deal with the Reds which would take him through to the 2015 World Cup.
Nasser would not return calls from AAP but did send a text message to say the 38-Test five-eighth would hold a press conference in Brisbane early next week.
Despite Cooper being among the most talented and exciting players in the game, the ARU has offered him a low-grade incentive-based deal for 2013.

    A couple of things.

    1. This may be a wild story from a "journo" with no real track record in rugby scoops.

    2. Apparantly channel nein has used old Quade footage of him speaking casually about doing boxing as part of his rehab. Source may well be dubious.

    3. No tweets from Quade, several hours after "the scoop", nor any comment from ARU. Crickets. Not sure which way this one plays.

    4. If and I mean IF, he is lost from Australian rugby, it is a great shame. His last 12 months have been badly affected by injury but Quade Cooper is a once in a generation player. With better management around him, this kid could be (could have been) anything.

Those of you seal clapping about him quitting (here and elsewhere) are demonstrating a myopic and insecure provincial view. I'm looking at you Alison and your relentless hate campaign. I really doubt that you know much about rugby at all.

Given the pathetic state of Australian rugby at the moment (can't score tries to save ourselves), we don't really have the luxury of cheering the departure of someone with his talent.

I don't think him leaving Australian rugby is agood thing at all. The guy is a great attacking player with a lot to offer. We don't have enough test rugby players in this country as it is without casting off arguably our best attacking resource which in past demonstrations we are sorely missing.

Well tic, I do know a little about rugby, having played it for many years and then managed and coached teams as I turned into a fat old bastard. I also have some pretty grounded views on teamwork. leadership and humility. Like many others I will be pleased to see the back of him. I acknowledge he does have great attacking talent and a rare ability to create time and space for those outside him (when the team is going forward) - but it's not worth the price. I find his petulance intolerable and feel he has dragged Australian rugby down. Good bye and good riddance.
