I would have to say we are a pretty solid chance of taking out the Australian conference and getting a real crack at a final spot. WHY - the reds and the brumbies have shown their best or close too it. Room for improvement is minor. The Rebels will improve but not over the top and the dark horse will be the Tahs. If Chieka can work some magic they will perform but gut feeling has me thinking they will be the same this year. But improve next year after he sacks a few.
We, on the other hand have some of the best coaches and tacticians, a fitter and more mentally tougher squad. Add some key position players which we have been screaming for for so long and a bunch of guys wanting a chance to show their goods - we are in a great space.
As for the NZ and SA conferences - We have seen most of what they have and it will be much of the same. A few teams will improve in NZ but nothing that I think we would be afraid of.
As long as Sias has been working on his positional kicking along with goal kicking we are looking like that "Champion team" we all support.
I see several of our "unknowns" being noted by Dingo for the Rugby Championship.
And I might take a punt with the TAB just to get some holiday money.

You've got to be 18 to place a bet, young man.

I'm predicting they finish at the top half of the table. Probably the best coaching setup in the Aussie conference, who will get the best out of a group without any stars, but a bunch of workmanlike players and guys on the cusp of breaking into the big-time.

Betting on breakout years for Cheese, K-Bomb and Wykes. Perhaps even Mafi if he can pick up where he left off.

Hope they don't move Mafi for a guy who got run out of Cardiff on a rail. Hopefully, he'll be a good utility player. The centers are a bit of a mystery at the moment, with Hayward, Tuatra-Morrison and Rasolea being big question marks at the Super level. One of them has to come good, right!!? And hopefully Tupou can pick up where he left off before injury.

Haven't seen Ebersohn much, other than some highlights, but Alby is a live wire and will add some spark.

Back row is solid and deep, front row could have a breakout year, locks are question mark.

So I'm thinking a top-half finish, with some youngsters stepping up to the next level. These coaches will get the best out of them. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I'm hoping that since almost all player singings happenend before Foley and Meehan signed, they'll have no favourites and all players get picked on form/ability. Therefore, if, e.g. SNK gets picked ahead of Mafi, or Ma'afu ahead of K-bomb, it's because they are doing better on the training ground or in matches.

I'm also looking forward to the competition for places between Hodgo, Brownie, McCalman, Alcock, Cottrell and McCaffrey!

Just saw the EWF's YouTube video on Junior Rasolea. He looks like a pretty solid unit! The 7s clips I've seen of him show some pretty good footwork as well.

Should be interesting in the centers this year, opposed to last year when it was "just pass the f$%#ing ball to HB, Mafi or Nalaga, and get out of the way"...

Coming from a family tainted by proven race fixing, suspected of doping and various other skullduggeries - 4 generations of them - i'm totally amazed even the muggest of punters would place a bet with him. Couldn't agree more with Jargs.

if Wykes doesnt perform this year, he may as well head up north.

Not a fan of wykes then Joni? I thought he was playing really well before he got injured and if he's come back in good shape I expect a huge season from him coming out of sharpies shadow

I'm a massive fan. But I think he needs to come good on all the potential he had shown. And all the tutelage he got from sharpie over the years.
He has seemed to be coasting from time to time. But also digs in deep as well. But I think he needs to go at a higher level this year

I really like Wykes but he is a bit of an odd fit. He could be the LH style lock like Sharpie but he is a bit shorter than Sharpie and hasn't anywhere near the potential to run a line-out. Unfortunately he has no where near the menace/mongrel of a guy like Hugh McMeniman. If he did, his athleticism and ball running ability could make him a very good blindside flanker.

Not as big-a-fuckwit(s) as the mugs handing over money to them.
