I don`t know how often i`ve screamed at the tele trying to coerce our boys to drive over and clear out the ball, all to no avail usually.....It frustrates the sh*t out of me, as rule number 1 in rugby, that was always taught to me, was that keeping the ball is the only way to score tries, and above everything, keep the bloody thing as long as you can.....
Only when locked down in your own 22 should you boot the ball, unless someone is chasing a strategic kick.
I think that the idea of keeping players out of rucks is ok to a point, but win the ball first, then pull out if necessary. In defence, if the ball is unwinnable, then don`t commit (which is where the raised hand indicates that no one needs to enter the ruck), but if there is a chance we can win it, then for christs sake, take the bloody bull by the horns and ruck the hell out of it.....
spoken like a true forward
No argument there jedi, how many times have we seen forwards make the hard yards for the backs to either drop the ball or kick it away.....grrrrrrr
I've seen it in every game I've played in. And then it's a shrug of the shoulders & a scamper over to the new breakdown to clean up their mess!!!
As sure as the sun rise, drop it they will....mmmm
