Trial - Emirates Western Force 19 – Vodacom Cheetahs 29
Sunday, 22 January 2006 2:39am
RugbyWA
In traditional trial match style, the team played expansive and attractive rugby, with members of the youthful backline enjoying the solid platform that had been laid by the forwards.
Coach John Mitchell was encouraged by the way his charges expressed themselves.
"We wanted the guys to have a go and not be inhibited," Mitchell said. "You can't win a flag playing one dimensional rugby; this team's not here to come second."
"The team has got self belief and they'll give it a crack."
Tai McIsaac, who captained the side in the absence of Nathan Sharpe and Scott Fava, was impressed by the form shown by his inexperienced forward pack against the seasoned Cheetahs line-up.
"Considering the experince we had, we did really well at the set piece," McIsaac said. "We gave it to them on their feed (into the scrum), and sometimes on ours."
The Emirates Westen Force will now travel to Melbourne and Auckland for away trial games against the Crusaders and Blues respectively.

do you understand the notion of the stir good sir?
i say you may not, see, as a supporter of a team that is undefeated in 2009 v a supporter of a team that is yet to get the monkey off there back, i would suggest that any hook would be hanging around Jm's neck waiting to pull him aside!
hypocrisy... am i not the only one who can smell it?

yeah, you guys did awesome and congrats, but the reds put on a ground record crowd, did you guys do that?
plaus what im rejoycing as a tahs fan is, my team is capable of winning while yours once again proved that there there to live up to the team motto "almost"
it was actually a record crowd

Yes Glory had 14,000 in 1995 and there was a music festival with 12,000 people held there -
Spirit v Vikings was biggest ARC crowd
followed by Rebels v Aces at 4,875
Those New South Welsh Rugby lovers cracked a whopping 8th place
with 3,241 at the Fleet v Rams game.
I find it ironic that all the big crowds had something to do with Western Rugby - Can anyone else see a trend beginning to form here???
Edit note: THANKS JARGS GOT 'EM

Brother Gallagher I hear you
Glory's record crowd is about 17,500 at the OLD Perth Oval, which was MES before redevelopment into an actual rectangle.
I have the ARC crowds at home in a spreadsheet on my Computer

9051 for Samoa in 2007
We need to rename the stadium. MES is pretty boring, no disrespect to the company. But like Dunedins "HOUSE OF PAIN" we need something along those lines.
