In news just to hand, the NSWRU have just released their new marketing slogan for next season to avoid the embarrassment seen with the disastrous Test Match sales.
Their PR Department has come up with the vaguely familiar:

    "SAVE UP FOR THE GAME"

I think expecting Bledisloe numbers for a reduced strength French team (I don't care what anyone says, they left players home) is a bit much. It is very much like the Fiji game last year - they charge test match prices, they'll only get the tragics.

these two posts are diametrically opposed, you don't want the poms to come over here and play rugby, but you don't want a good hard fat front row who like to do the shit work for 80 minutes?

    What exactly DO you want?

this is disgusting. we are paying HOW much for our tickets over here? i have rather CR@P seats, not that im complaining (seeing as its my ONLY chance to see my wallabies), and it cost $90. this is a disgrace to ARU. when it comes to the perth game, well have a FULL stadium (i hope) and yet sydney cannot fill a stadium, so they are GIVING away tickets! what about the other 2 (??? i havent checked... im too busy ranting ) games they have there? are we going to have the same thing again? i am appalled. TAKE THE GAMES TO THE FANS... NOT TO YOUR OWN FRONT DOOR ARU!

ARU defend attempt to boost crowd
    June 27, 2008

JOHN O'Neill has defended the ARU's decision to effectively give away tickets to watch the Australia on Saturday night.

With sales sluggish ahead of Australia's first Test against France at ANZ Stadium, punters can go to Rhodes Shopping Centre near the venue, spend $80 at any of its stores and, in return, pocket two silver-class tickets to the Wallabies valued at $69 each.

In other words, Joe Public can lob at Rhodes, pick up a couple of cartons of beer, get their groceries or maybe even get a new lounge or fancy hair-do and walk away with $138 worth of Wallabies tickets.

While O'Neill labelled the initiative a "promotion" designed to help the ARU reach its budgeted crowd of 50,000, loyal rugby fans who forked out hard-earned dollars to buy tickets without the gimmicks have been left feeling short-changed.

i wonder how many tickets have acctually been bought to watch this game, that wouuld be the big question,

A ratio would be nice to find out (bought vs given, won)

i thought ARU had to SELL 50,000 tickets to brake even. How do they break even if the give away 5,000-10,000 tickets?? Or was that just have 50,000 people there and make money off beer/food sales??
