He thinks he is a journalist breaking a big story.
Nipper's on the money, let's not muck around here. We need a quality international at 10. Aus has got no one.
Cooper proved at the WC he's crap??
Did someone on here say SBW was NZ's best number 12??? Ludicrous statment.
I would enjoy the Genia / Cooper show in Perth. Cooper needs a straight running 12 with zip though
neither. as long as it was a 2/3 year deal. and he was threatened on pain if death if he broke it
To be honest, I'm a little ambivalent. I don't know that Genia has been playing that much better than Sheehan, or at least nowhere near that many dollars worth. He certainly doesn't seem to box kick any less, or any better. He does raise the profile though, maybe making recruiting a little easier.
There still seems to be a fair bit up in the air though. All that is certain is that he is leaving Queensland - if it is not here, it will be overseas. But whether it is the Force would still seem to depend on:
- whether there actually is an expanded salary cap
- whether the ARU decides it doesn't like the direction it took everything
- whether the supposed money actually includes third party player deals, and whether the ARU signs off on them
- whether the ARU tries to take advantage and offer reduced money on their end, so they don't come to terms
- whether someone manages to drop a bigger number in front of Genia and he does an Ioane
- whether it pumps up the expectations of the other players, and how the budget then looks in terms of getting him and Pocock while still retaining what we need from the rest of the squad.
In particular, the protocols around this supposed increase in the salary cap seem very fuzzy. Is it supposed to come out of revenues we don't have, or is the ARU essentially signing off on the franchises procuring third party money to directly pay salaries?
I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but there really does seem to be a lot in the wind at the minute. There are certainly any number of fragrant conspiracy theories floating around.
Thoughtful and fair comment AndyS.
All good points Andy.
But the problem is that Sheehan is going. Stannard is also going. We are left with only Justin Turner and he is cursed with injuries. I think Josh Holmes was still contracted in France so that rules him out. He hasn't been amazing since he's been here either.
We needed a good scrum-half who is capable of starting each week. I had hoped for someone like Nic Berry. But Genia is a better option in many ways and probably well worth every cent we are paying him, especially if he encourages Sharpie for one more year. There really any a lot of quality lock options who we could steal so having Sharpie back would be priceless.
Genia will keep the fires of hope burning in Force fans hearts after another disappointing season (yeah I know its not finished yet but it has been disappointing). He'll be a really good recruitment carrot for both a quality coach and other quality players.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
RG was on our player attaining and retaining panel. That would mean he was secretly trying to get Genia to come here at the same time that he was secretly negotiating to go to Qld.What must their supporters be thinking about their new boss-can't help but smile whenever I think about it.
also shows that graham wasnt all bad. just sayin
Mabe he thinks genia's had the best of his time and was trying to saddle us with him before jumping ship. It does make it easier to understand why genia would want to move though

Maybe he felt like a change but doesn't like daylight saving.
The ABC news was claiming tonight that neither of the Genia/Bam Bam negotiations were done deals. Dunno what they know but it was bloody obvious that Bam doesn't think so either.
