Reverse psychology is the correct interpretation. Fagan trying to put pressure on JOC to sign. Luckily his mother & father are giving him good advice. They know any of the S14 franchises will take him whenever he decides and it will be the same in a couple of years when he's become the next big thing. They also know he has a contract with The Force with a nice upgrade in the offing and are confidant Perth will be good for his development with just a competent experienced 10. JOC is well and truly in the driving seat. God luck to him.

Anyone else see the article on Pocock in Inside Sport - I wonder whether O'Connor's folks have spoken to Pocock's dad...?

“Let me put it this way, A Springbok team contains Afrikaners, Englishmen, coloureds and blacks. It has parochial foes in Bulls, Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Lions. It is a recipe for war! Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. The man is a legend!”- Jake White

FFS leave the kid alone. He has been saying since February that he will make his decision in his own time. The only thing that all the questioning and probing is doing is annoying the crap out of him. He's 18 and potentially making one of the biggest decisions of his life. At 18 I didn't know what uni to go to let alone which state to move to to either play assistant to Giteau or to take a massive step forward and lead a backline. Atleast he isn't just whoring himself out there to the club that will pay him the most, from all sources it is clear that he is thoroughly thinking about this. The bloke deserves some respect to have stuck by what he said & not be rushed/swayed by anyone for so long.

    Not bad, and certainly interesting.

Perhaps, but at the same time did you tell them you'd decide in your own time and they could just wait 'til then to finalise their admission register?

No, I deferred and took 6 months to make my decision but I wasn't being paid as much to go to uni as he is being offered to play rugby.

If he needs to time to decide then so be it, rushing him won't do any good or help the cause. Plus he still has the option of a one-year extension of his current Force contract. If he can't make his mind up in time he may just have to settle for that for next season. It won't do him any harm, he just won't be getting paid as much as he may currently be worth.

If he doesn't make a choice soon there won’t be one to make...

If he doesn't know he should just stay put and find out why....

    Life is full of lessons...

The Brumbies don’t need to give him special treatment, he joins as a squad member and competes for game time like the rest of the talent… Additionally they don’t need a media circus spinning around Brumbies HQ, Giteau brings enough of that nonsense… The JO’C spin will die out and he will have to get on with the job on the field… somewhere… He can look to advance though a proven system or go it alone with sand castles Andre Pertorius…

The needs to keep his feet on the ground, all his media hype could ruin the kid’s development…

I think what you meant to say Muddy was: He can look to advance through a proven system and go it alone with sand castles Andre Pretorius. Now remind me how many more players the Force contributed to the Wallabies than the Brumbies. Was it 4? It was 4 wasn't it? Wasn't it? 4? 4!

I’m loving the hollow bravado as JO'C still hasn't signed with the Force and won't until he knows the 2010 line up... what sort of leadership is that? I have a feeling the Force are creating another match committee here...

Watching Foxsports tonight I noticed the Wallabies were training at the Brumbies scenic Griffith training ground... Fagans office would have been less than a 100 metres away... Fagan is just ensuring young JO'C understands his place in the world of rugby... and the Brumbies if he signs up…
