The issue is that while Jones is happy to talk numbers from the community game his attention on what is considered most important is actually at the district club level. All politicking and no real substance. As much as I detest the man. And I truly detest him. If he had an actual plan that would benefit to true grassroots level of the game then I would be more than happy to hear him out.
I personally couldn't give a RA what the RA does. The West is dead to them!
I'm still waiting to get a glimpse of how they're maintaining a development pathway for WA-based rugby players.
What's the sense of copying an entire article when all you want to do is attack the author?
Why is it that EVERY GRR thread gets side-tracked by nothing issues???
Please can we have one thread JUST for GRR.
Not quite but close. I'd be fine if RA distributed 50k/year to each of Premier clubs from each state under plus targeted regions under the proviso of those funds being used exclusively to achieve the target of either (on a state by state basis) developing 12 junior clubs in each districts featuring multiple teams both boys and girls from U6s through to U18s. Or for the likes of WA, Vic etc. have the current clubs develop their junior ranks in the same vein. If the Shute Shield or Hospital Cup clubs wanted to do likewise then they'd need have many double the number of teams in each age grade.
Part of the deal would also include the registration of players where outside of insurance all monies gathered belong to the club and all clubs would have to work on creating a strong link between their junior and senior wings with the goal of the junior players and their families becoming fans of the 1st teams of the respective clubs and turning out to support.
If that's what the likes of Papworth and Jones were saying and actually meant it. Then I'd be listening. But they just want to pursue player payments for the sake of vanity than actual development.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa
