Interesting read in light of what we now know of this person. No stranger to misleading a senate committee is Mr Clyne. His operating "style" is the very antithesis of Rugby ethos.
Hence the "rebranding" to Rat's Arse". I suppose.

I take it that's the last of the submissions, corrie, etc before the big day. It is past close of business in Canberra.

I believe that because Genia is a returning Wallaby from overseas only part of his salary will come into the cap, same as a cross coder IIRC.

Now I recall Clyne saying in his testimony that "there was a very real option that both teams were being considered right through until August", 16 Oct 2017 - dates, dates and more dates.
April 12 Pulver and Clarke are in Melbourne trying to talk Cox into selling the Rebels
May 17 Victorian Government issues warning to ARU not to try to buy Rebels with Vic Gov money if only to close it down

Did you hear that door slam?
Aug 4 Cox divests himself of the Rebels and ARU claim they had no idea.
Aug 5 "The ARU are still trying to make sense of the deal last night." and "“To date, the ARU has received no communication from the Melbourne Rebels despite recent attempts to confirm their position,” the ARU said."

Please my sides are cramping. Oh wait, the Senate review findings come out on Monday - what will they uncover ???
The truth may set you free, but only evidence convicts
Not only didn't they know what was going onthey didn't know they had a secret second put option to buy Rebels and close them....in fact the FIRST put option was secret as well, caught everyone (else) by surprise

A post from ‘Inside Shoulder’ on GAGR.
Have any of you taken the trouble to look up the main players at Satlbush Capital? I didn't think so.
"It is interesting to note that Fairfax is taking counsel from under-the-radar-boutique advisory, Saltbush Capital Markets, and its chairman Patrick Allaway.

Where did Mr Allaway play his rugby I hear you ask: Sydney University.
Where did Mr Clyne play his? you guessed it.
Who was Michael Hawker's best mate at Syd Uni - sorry, no prizes for guessing that.
Where did Pulver go to uni - come on, you're kidding aren't you?
Where does Patrick Allaway live? - not sure but he used to live in Mosman - with Pulver and Eales.

Hey, I come from Mosman Park. Nuffin wrong with that

It was all one big charade. The put option was damning, it clearly meant legally the Force werent the only side to be forced under the guillotine.
To be honest I have heard the term that "legally" the homeland states of QLD,NSW and in someways the ACT, could not be axed. But why cpupd they not be? Clyne mentions during the senate inquiry that they were not considered due to being an original franchise, he doesnt mention the "legal" ramifications or anything. I just cant see how anyone could use the argument that the team they axed was done so because they were yhe only ones that legally could be, it is a farce! There should always be a fair even merit based system to quite simply rank the teams properly as this is democratic, transaprent and fair, what the EARU Rat Anus did has made them look like Amateurs trying to find their way in a professional sporting environment, the whole board lacks integrity and they need to take a good hard look at their ethic committee because they are a laughing stock.
I still want to know who mysteriously "beamed" a copy of the alliance agreement into Tim North's office. They all say it was not Pulver or the CFO. Clarke NEVER carries document hard copies, so all probable options have been eliminated. We must assume the improbable. I wonder if Montgomery.J.Scott has any unit trust shares.

I love fuckwittery!
Not concern about the salary cap with that one, more about where the money was coming from to pay for it. Particularly given that Genia's Bath and Stade Francais deals were complicated, not expired and paid out in far stronger currencies. This is on top of the fresh contract that he will be paid on in Australia.
This was put up on the Arseholes R Us website and literally says nothing about what is going to happen going forward.
