I can stop whingeing now I've been allocated a seat - yipee.
E228 seven rows down from the top 3 seats in from middle aisle, overlooking halfway line.
had another wander this morning.
i think a few people will be glad to see the progress in the past couple of weeks. they are still cracking along with it.
- at a guess 50% of the seats are now in,
- the roof is about a quarter complete,
- all 4 new light towers are now erected,
- the facilities under the new grandstand are really taking shape,
- the frames for the new big screens are being installed.
second lot of pics.
FYI i am having to delete previous attachments as i go as i keep running out of space. If anyone wants copies of the original photos to compare with the current just let me know.![]()
i like this first photo. it shows the curve of the new grandstand. at first it looks as though it is just straight, but in this photo you can certainly see the curvature of the steel as it wraps around the seating.
this "bowl" effect is really going to capture and add to the noise of the crowd!

Friday arvo whilst waiting for a train at Claisebrook station I noticed they were playing with the lights, half of them were on as well at about 3:30ish that arvo
yep, the past few nights they have been switching them on/off. i suppose they are going through a commissioning process, prior to de-commissioning and removing the old lights.
in fact i think during the glory game some of the new lights were turned on.
This photo shows a good comparison between the old and new lighitng rigs. pretty big difference!

Thanks again Marty - You have made the Upgrade a joy to watch from the other side of the country - I really appreciate your efforts.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa
As stated in another thread, went to NiB to watch the Glory tonight and took a couple of snaps on my ipod while there
