AUSTRALIA utility back Matt Giteau will miss next Saturday night's Test with Fiji due to a minor knee injury.
Giteau sustained a blow to his left knee, which was already recovering from a low-grade ligament strain, during last night's 31-0 whitewash of Wales at Suncorp Stadium.
The 24-year-old Western Force dynamo will miss his home Test in Perth and travel across to South Africa early with six teammates to prepare for the June 16 Tri-Nations opener withg the Springboks.
Wallabies coach John Connolly will tomorrow announce which other players will be rested against the Fijians to make the early flight to Cape Town.
There will be seven guys going early, for any number of reasons," he said.
"One of them is we want them to travel up the top of the plane so they can stretch out.
"Giteau will be one of the seven.
"He's got another knock on his knee, he didn't train early this week and I think we'll probably sit him out.
"It's not terribly bad but he just needs a week off."
Former skipper George Gregan, who took over impressively from Giteau at halfback after a terrible first half in Brisbane, will start in the No.9 jersey, while Reds half Sam Cordingley has been called into the squad to sit on the bench.
