In today's West under a brillant article about Digby - there was 4 lines saying that O'Neil is landing on Subi Oval this afternoon in a helicopter as part of some sort of stunt arranged by RugbyWA to highlight the need for a rectangular stadium
Anyone know anymore ?

Typical O'Neill style....
Lands at 3:20pm I think...
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
Caught 9 news and it showed O'Neil as the man who had a big interest in Soccer and Rugby as saying that the Glory and the Force are presenting a joint front in the push for a 35,000 stadium which is needed now
Not sure of the numbers for the Glory assuming about 18,000/game and the Force are averaging 28,000 so that means at least 46,000 people in Perth need a rectangular stadium NOW- and that's before the Western Reds fans who are running some games here next year
Quite a clever move by rugbyWa

I hope J O'N can give it a decent shove for us. I saw him on "Inside Rugby" last night and he said (roughly) " The government want to re-develop Subi to 60,000 and they are talking 8-10 years for a rectangular stadium. The Force and Glory need within about two years "
I know that Langoulant hinted at this a while back. But has this somehow become policy now or is RWA just on the front foot, as usual?
Jeez we are hopeless in WA with this sort of stuff. Not sure but I think the Vics have comitted to a rectangular stadiun for Fudbol/RL/RU and they don't have an S14 franchise - yet.
The new NRL Titans will have a rectangular stadium in their second season - and that after two other franchises had failed there. One of the reasons they failed was that they could not attract decent crowds to Carrara Stadium. The WA govt will run the same risk if they don't smarten up.![]()

Egan. How did you know back in October that J O'N was flying into Perth last Friday?

This was reported on this forum at the time, but it is not a new story that the Glory and Force have been jointly bidding for a major stadium.
Rugby League is also in the mix as pushing for 35,000 seats.
Langoulant has hinted that is what will happen, leading to the Major Stadia Taskforce recommendations being revealed soon.I know that Langoulant hinted at this a while back. But has this somehow become policy now or is RWA just on the front foot, as usual
But as I keep stating, the Major Stadia Taskforce recommendations do not have to be accepted and they are used as a guide, so they may recommend 10 years.
But if there is significant pressure on the government, but the lobbyists such as us and we make a broad ranging proposal on why WA needs a major rectangular stadium now, then there is no reason why we can not get this stadium up and running.
It involves a lot of good luck, but here's hoping we do not have to wait ten years.

I heard some news about some news that might make the news....if it's a full moon sometime in the future....about the stadium....but I couldn't reveal my sources
Actually, last I heard/read was that they have gone back to reconsider and cost out the Burswood proposal?

This news relates to "the public" joining "Forces" to get in the Governments face and get things moving forward.
