Carter Gordon signs with the Titans

    Unsure where to put this:

Wallabies flyhalf Carter Gordon will join the Titans in 2025, with the exciting playmaker to make the switch to Rugby League.

Formerly at the Melbourne Rebels, Gordon has played eight times for the Wallabies, making his international debut against the Springboks in 2023.

He’s a current member of the Australian squad and has played at the Rugby World Cup.

The 23-year-old says he’s excited to move to the Gold Coast and test himself in the NRL.

“I’m excited with the direction that rugby league is taking and the positive feeling around the game,” Gordon said.

“At 23, I feel like I had to take this opportunity now.

“I’m under no illusions and understand that this will be a massive challenge.

“I was really impressed with the Titans and the professionalism they displayed in our meetings.

“I’ve loved my time with rugby as it’s given me the opportunity to represent my country which I’ll always appreciate.”

Titans Coach Des Hasler says he’s looking forward to working with Gordon next season.

“Carter has competed well in rugby, representing his country and playing at the World Cup,” Hasler said.

“What has impressed me is his attitude to test himself and take on the challenge of switching to a new code.

“He’s a skillful player who backs himself.”

Gordon will join the Titans for the 2025 and 2026 NRL seasons.

One less to worry about in the Wallaby Flyhalf conundrum then.
Wonder if Hoiles "gets it" yet?

Nope, all he'll look at is the increased chance of a Randwick boy becoming the Wallabies #10

with Donaldson and Harrison definitely in the race He's probably rubbing his hands with glee.

I'm guessin Donno wouldn't have seen Carter as his biggest threat.

Lolesio has just extended with the Brums, so Donno will know the fight continues for longer.

So to Carter, Mungoheads amongst us (I'll leave you to self identify...) how's he going to go?
He can take a pretty decent hit, but think some of his core skills may be a bit erratic for a genuine playmaker position?
    Fullback?
Where's the gap in the Titans Roster?

Well not being much of a "Mungohead ( ); I'll have a shot. But actually I don't watch them much at all - only so much time to watch 2 codes. Having said that, they have 2 pretty handy fullback-5/8's in Jayden Campbell and AJ Brimson. Both are good at either but better at FB. They also have Kieran Foran, a top flight 5/8 playing half back. But @ 33 and the courage he always plays with, his body must be near the end. His Monday mornings would be the stuff of nightmares.

Titans interested in having Carter Gordon before June 30

Rugby Australia chief executive Phil Waugh said he wouldn’t consider an early release, however, because Gordon was still in contention to play for the Wallabies.

Waugh is saying "no way" at the moment. We'll see. I actually saw Joey talking about this on 9 NRL this morning & he, like me cant see where he fits. Johns said cant see him easily moving to 5/8 "he might play at 12" (work that one out) and is big enough to play lock. As mentioned earlier the Titans main roster hole is at 7 looking ahead. One thing for sure is that Hasler will have a plan. Despite his Nutty Professor routine at pressers, he's a supremely good operator in reality.

Not really a great surprise in that position, safe to say in Joey's opinion nothing good has come out of Union since Dally Messenger...

For clarity. Joey's position, not Carter's.
