If we just had Potter on the wing instead of Poolman we would pretty much be full strength, amazing considering how many were out at the start of the season.

I thoght Poolman had a pretty good game. Probably his best game to date, didn't really look out of place.

He was better last week, but still had trouble with dropping off tackles.

This week he fixed up the dropping off tackles bit. He played well.

Genuine question; wondering why you are so pissed about the current situation........ Currently there are about half the Force Academy Squad from local clubs. Most would think some excellent coaches are running the program. James can speak for himself, but I thought having a third of the 2017 Force senior squad being locals after 10 years about par. Maybe that is irrelevant now but after the setbacks since then; it seems progress is happening again. Am I missing something because I don't know a lot about the local set up? I only manage to see a few games a year.

G'day mate. Yes you are right, however we do need to remember prior to 2017 we were growing local talent. I don't think we could have recovered back to those days in the last 3 years. Still a lot of peeps don't trust RA. Over in NSW more peeps watch Shute Sheild than Tahs.

Additionally, local players get more time to work on their rugby by playing club rugby than those in the academy setup. Unfortunately, the common wisdom is that Perth Premier League is a lower standard than over east and therefore it takes longer to get to the right level.

Without an NRC or similar, you've got the catch 22 of putting them into an academy to grow skills by reducing the amount of rugby they play or not putting them in the academy so they can play more rugby but maybe get pissed off because nobody's looking at them.

I'm aware i don't offer any solutions here, but it's a difficult situation and will take a lot of input to address.

Sounds like the point I'm unaware of is that academy players are not allowed to play 1st grade? Seems counterproductive even if the standard is considered not up to scratch and there is no other opportunity. Doubt that happens in competitor countries.

I don't think this statement is correct.
In Round 5, there were 8 Academy players playing in local Club Rugby (that's 8 of the local 12 Academy members.
They included:
Wanneroo: AJ Preketes, Caleb Karangaroa, Manaia TeTana
Soaks: Christiano Tizzano, HD Stemmet, Justin Landman
Wests: Jhy Legg, Kauri Tipene Grace
Kala: Max Sawers

The young 18yo recent appointments from interstate are enjoying playing with their East Coast Clubs as the 1st year after leaving school.

It appears that the Academy has become a 3-year program.

Some players who usually play with the local clubs (Doug Phillipson, Dane Sawers) probably had a break due to U20 involvement.
Angus Websdale may have been on Stand-by for the WF.

I think there were three playing for Wanneroo and two for Soaks in Saturday's warm up match. It was a pretty good game. Soaks only just scraped home. Wanneroo could and probably should have come away with the points.
