An important resigning
Western Force full-back Jack McGregor commits to new deal
Western Force full-back Jack McGregor has re-signed for next season’s Global Rapid Rugby competition.
McGregor was snapped up by the Force in 2018 after the Melbourne Rebels let him slip through their fingers.
The former Australian schoolboy and under-20 representative, who also captained NSW schoolboys, said the decision to stay with the Force was an easy one.
“I was always happy to stay here,” McGregor said.
“I’ve loved my time in Perth and with everything that is going on with the home-and-away season in 2020 it’s very exciting.
“There’s a really good core group of boys sticking around and there are quality players coming in. The squad is building nicely.”
Coach Tim Sampson converted McGregor from fly-half to full-back, a position he played in only one club game before moving to the Force.
“The switch was a bit of a shock at the start but I’ve really enjoyed the change and to be able to play two positions is always good,” McGregor said.
Meanwhile centre Marcel Brache, who has re-committed to his seventh season with the Force, has been selected for USA Eagles for the World Cup in Japan later this month.
He joins fly-half AJ Alatimu and inside back Henry Taefu on the world stage after their selection for Samoa.
Brache, who has 19 appearances for the Eagles, is eligible to play for the US as he was born in Los Angeles before moving to South Africa.
“World Cup selection is one of the highest honours I have been able to achieve within my rugby career,” Brache said.
“I feel very lucky and privileged to have been selected for this.
“I thank the Force for being gracious and allowing me to pursue this adventure. It’s because of the Force that I am in this position.”

Thats great news. Jack McGregor is a star.
Are Kitu Ratu and Byron Ralston signed up as GRR players, or are they just here for the NRC?
Super Rugby signing
September 19, 2019
We are thrilled to announce the signing of ACT Brumbies prop Angus Wagner for the 2020 Global Rapid Rugby season.
Ironically the 21-year-old will be in Perth tomorrow when his NRC team the Canberra Vikings arrive to take on his soon-to-be teammates at UWA Sports Park on Saturday.
News of the “poaching” has been immediately reported in The West Australian.
Coach Tim Sampson said: “He’s a player that is ready to take-off, a quality player who is hard-working, has good skill levels and gets around the field well.”

Just looked on the Brumbies website - he’s listed as in their academy, not their SuperRugby squad. The Force don’t mention that in the press release though. Interesting too that the photo they have used is of him in his Brumbies jersey. If he’s in Perth this weekend they could have got a photo of him in a Force jersey for the press release.

Proudly Western Australian; Proudly supporting Western Australian rugby
He was promoted to the full squad apparently in may this year as an injury replacement according to Wikipedia.
Interesting that there is no mention of him on the full squad page on the Brumbies website if he was promoted in May. Oh well, I guess we’ll get to see him on Saturday!

I have an ever growing faith in our coaches. They have a proven ability over the past two years to pick up quality young players and develop them. If they think Angus has growth potential, that is good enough for me.
