Flying Fijians Join Fijian Latui In This Week’s Global Rapid Rugby Clash
JUNE 05, 2019
Fiji Airways Flying Fijian winger Patrick Osborne and lock forward Sikeli Nabou will join the Swire Shipping Fijian Latui side when they take on Kagifa Samoa in Friday’s Global Rapid Rugby clash in Auckland, New Zealand.
This was confirmed to SUNsports yesterday by Latui head coach Senirusi Seruvakula indicating that the Japan-based Osborne who also played Super Rugby for Highlanders, Chiefs and Crusaders is going to start in this must-win clash.
Osborne and Nabou are both named in the Flying Fijians squad for the two-match clash against the Maori All Blacks in July and followed by the Pacific Nations Cup.
Seruvakula said all the players’ performance will be reviewed by Fiji Airways Flying Fijian head coach, John McKee before selecting the extended squad for the Rugby World Cup.
He highlighted that they need to beat Samoa to keep their GRR campaign on track after they lost 27-15 to Western Force in their last match.
“We understand they (Samoa) did get a big hiding from Western Force and are now hungry for a win especially when we will be playing Samoa in Auckland,” he said.
“We understand that it is going to be a tough game but we need to be disciplined and I believe that we have trained well for the past two days and players are really looking forward to the game.”
Seruvakula said the players had adapted well to the finer techniques of the game.
“There are no excuses for it and this is the third game again and I think we are looking forward to doing everything right.
“There has been a lot of work after the Western Force match and we’ve reviewed it and the boys understand what went wrong. We need to polish that on Friday.”
Latui vice-captain Frank Lomani said the players had been keeping up with what is expected of them. “We’ve learnt from our mistakes,” he added.

Zac Guildford at fullback for Kagifa Samoa!
Talented guy - hopefully he's in the right frame to do what he does best.
Agreed! Very talented player, although seems to have (or at least had) issues with drink. He does seem to have bounced around clubs since leaving the Crusaders, or at least Clermont, which seems odd for someone who could bring so much to side.
I'm hoping he's over his issues and can act as a leader for Kagifa Samoa, because they seemed a decent side; just lacking a cutting edge and fitness against a Force side who've been playing together for a couple of years.
Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
