Western Force coach Tim Sampson is looking for an improvement in basic skills in tonight’s Global Rapid Rugby clash with the South China Tigers at HBF Park.
The Force beat the Hong Kong-based side 45-24 last year but the visitors have a much-strengthened squad.
They have a mix of internationals who played in Hong Kong’s world cup qualifying games, 7s specialists and some who played in the last fixture.
“We will be looking for consistency in our skill execution. We’ve got to be better with our basic handling and carrying into contact,” Sampson said.
“They were very good at the breakdown last year, they will be focussed around the collision areas. We have had a fair bit of training time and discussion around the breakdown.
“They have some powerful runners so we have to get up in their face and make the tackles.”
