So the ARU crapped on about how they needed to cull a side of the game was going to go broke in 2019 yet now they can afford to plunge money into grass roots and afford a pay rise for players both in 15’s and 7’s.
Good to see RUPA got a nice little earner out of it too. Everyone except WA seems to have their hands in the cookie jar.
Good to see too that everyone except WA seems content to just wipe 2017 away like it never happened. Just a blip. The crash we had to have. Just a simple market correction. No-one died so what’s the problem, right?
Proudly Western Australian; Proudly supporting Western Australian rugby
Geez it's galling to see Rat's Arse bending over backwards to keep the Rabble afloat (again). I'm not normally a vindictive type - the opposite I'd hope. But despite my well wishes to our "Melbourne Force" players and coaches I hope the Rabble crash and burn. And I hope the same future for Super Rugby and ZA involvement in it. I really believe the only way forward from here for Aus Rugby is total is for a re-alignment of competitions where all teams are relevant to supporters in our own time zones. That will need the NZRU (and it's supporters) to get over their arrogant belief (even if it's true ATM) that nobody other than ZA are worthy opponents. Got to say I'm not over confident in any of that.

Question for Hansie - has the ARU finalised the distributions to the state unions yet? How does it compare to previous years?
This is another one to send to the Senator. They are not saving money and sending money to the grassroots.

So I suppose it’s fair to assume that RUPA may have had a fair part of their hand in the culling process!
Short answer, the Rebels and ERU conned all the other Australian sides, not just the Force. The under-performing Reds will be pissed, having got no new players out of the Force's demise. I'll bet there's some sort of contra deal to keep them appeased.
Mean while over on ROAR, they are calculating the savings that RA have made by culling the Force.

2017 – 200k x 5 squads x 35 players = 35 mill (175 players total)
2018 – 225K x 4 squads x 40 players = 36 mill (160 players total)
