His development was screwed.
He started off as a number 8 then came to the Brumbies HPU as a prop (loose head from memory). Signed to the Waratahs and moved to hooker where he spent several seasons struggling with his throwing. Crazy stuff particularly when Aus Rugby was crying out for quality props.
The dismantling of the HPU system was another poor ARU decision. When TPN was in the Brumbies HPU with AAC, Sam Norton Knight, Faingaa twins and Daniel Halangahu. All bar Halangahu ended up with test caps, his own prospects ended when he signed with the Tahs as they didn't have a clue in how develop flyhalfs. Norton Knight fell in to the same trap at the Tahs as he was showing promise as a fullback at the Brumbies and he would have learnt far more playing with Larkham.
The Brumbies had a bunch of players who were signed on full contracts straight from club Rugby and they struggled to make the step up. The Academy and HPU had a far better success rate.

Tatafu Polota-Nau signs lucrative deal with Leicester
The truth may set you free, but only evidence convicts
Sad to see such a great ambassador for the game who interacts with literary eveveryone (who can’t help but walk away smiling) leave this country.
Thank you Tats for your support of the Force in our dire straits and being such a stand up person.
Generally speaking you aren’t learning much if your lips are moving!!!
/agree, wishing you nothing but the best Taf, you were great for us in the short time you were here.
From reading the latest Canberra Times article it appears the Badge will be making a comeback next year. 4 Force players are on the radar for contracts at the Brumbies if squad limits are raised. 30 is a ridiculously low number for a full time squad to play in a lengthy tournament no wonder Australian sides struggle to compete. A lot of Pro 14 teams use well over 40 players a season.
It appears the Reds are out of the market for even the likes of Richie Arnold as they aren't linked to any players and the Waratahs probably only have the money for Ben McCalman.

Nah....the Tahrds can always find more filthy lucre if they want a star player
The long sobs of autumn's violins wound my heart with a monotonous languor
Usually that is the case but they are on record of saying that they had to cut down on their coaching staff due to budget cuts.

Am hearing that Coleman has already signed with the Rebels but they can't announce it until the Salary cap is lifted by the ARU. How the fruit cake will they be able to pay for all of these players??
Mark my words the ARU will change or twist the rules so that they can.
This whole process has been a stitch up from before the ARU even bought us out.
Frans Van Wyk gone back to SA and is in John Mitchells Bulls Squad.
