From Union Live app: "[...]That decision is still be be made but the Rebels are confident their future is safe and have already been linked to Western Force coach Dave Wessels, whose club is the other on the ARU chopping block. [...] (the Rebels CEO said) "If David happens to be available and that's the way the cards fall ... I think he's done a good job under difficult circumstances this year and is a fairly highly regarded developing coach and would certainly be worth some strong consideration but we haven't officially targeted him because we don't know what the scenario will be." [...] "
Reading this was rather disturbing....
No shit.... really? Reputable source?
More lies, bullshit & scaremongering while our case looks stronger & stronger.
"Fairly highly regarded"?!! He's the best rugby coach in Australia right now, and that includes Cheika!!

Proudly Western Australian; Proudly supporting Western Australian rugby
All I ask is that Wayne Smith remains an objective journalist on this matter. The tenure of that article is more in keeping with Pandaram et al.![]()
If the decision is still in the balance then why haven't we signed some of the rebels players as well pending them getting the chop? I would feel a lot more confident if that came out in the news
What difference does it make if something gets announced in the press or not?
The Rebels are announcing a whole lot but the media overlooks the fact that the VRU supports 5 teams but the Rebels 4 & the EGM was called by the VRU without the support of the Rebels. I can read between the lines to see there may be friction between the VRU & the Rebels, Cox selling, VRU knows and are trying to stop it at the ARU level with the EGM as they can't stop Cox.
So cheer up, I just made that stuff up but it makes as much difference to the reality than all these contracts signed that would only come into force if another team was cut. As Sinderberry said, there will likely be a whole load of free players after one of the teams are cut, why sign up a whole bunch of players now when there will be players better in their position free up soon enough.
Surely by now everyone can see the writing on the wall? This has been drawn out to the point that even if we do stay in the comp we won't be able to field a competitive team!
Notice how all supposed contracts are just in case the Force are cut and no actual Force players names have been mentioned. If you take the reports at face value the Rebels would have been sold off for $4.75 million a couple of months ago. It means bugger all at this point, the pendulum has already swung multiple times, why can't it swing back again.
And last I checked our local club players who have made it into the Force have done pretty bloody alright. If we lose our big names but have the Spirit make the leap up I think we would probably have a better team than some of the overpaid Eastern states reject teams we have had in the past.
This is the 'recession' we had to have. Now onto the unprecedented era of prosperity.![]()
By all means stay positive. No one ever likes the truth.
