Former WA Governor Malcolm McCusker is set to represent RugbyWA in its impending legal battle to save Western Force from the Super Rugby axe.
McCusker, one of WA’s most experienced legal figures, who also played rugby for UWA, will represent the Force with administrative and constitutional law expert Matthew Howard.
The move fired another warning shot at the ARU following the writ lodged by RugbyWA against the national body notifying it of its intention to apply for an injunction against the plan to revoke its licence.
The Force have a clause in the alliance agreement signed with the ARU last year that commits both parties to the current broadcast deal that ends in 2020.

“We have enlisted Malcolm McCusker and Matt Howard to help us in our potential legal fight to keep the Force in WA under our alliance agreement with the ARU,” RugbyWA chairman Tony Howarth said.
The Rebels, who are also under threat have warned they will seek compensation if axed.
The ARU board met yesterday and is understood to want to meet the RugbyWA board.
