Whilst that is true, it's going to be very hard to shake that mindset when performance in this league doesn't come without money we don't have!
Why do you think Foley isn't under pressure to lose his job? they can't afford to pay out his contract an buy another coach....and the ARU don't give a shit whether we win since they think our place is to hold onto Australian talent whilst the real teams don't have room for them and give that talent up when there's a need.
ARU start to bleat when we sell something to them for $800 K but will happily throw millions at the Tahs and Reds (and that doesn't include the ridiculous disparity in Wallaby top-ups)

I agree with all of this, but we have to take control of our own destiny. The only way I can see us getting more money is to grow our income from membership and ticket sales. My feeling is that a lot of potential rugby customers have given up on the Force as they don't see them as being serious about competing to win. At the moment we are stuck in a viscous cycle.
Viscous is probably an accurate term, It's pretty much a slow whirling death.
I agree with Cowboy, the malaise is ingrained atm and it's going to take some serious momentum from somewhere to change attitudes....I think that's what I was trying to point out. But if Wayne Smith starts batting for us (which happened a bit this weekend) maybe the ARU might start to get interested and give us some small fraction of the love they've continued to show the Reds.
The Force has been running on the smell of an oily rag for the last 5 years, an extra million or so would do much more in Perth than it would in Queensland.
