It can now be confirmed that the Nedlands Rugby Club have challenged West Scarborough Rugby Club in a winner take all match this weekend.
At stake will be in all probability the minor premiership and if common sense prevails the right to host a semi final.
In an added twist the Nedlands club will also put the new Rugby WA cup up for grabs even though protocol for the cup means the holder can actually hide it away like little scared schoolboys at home for 3 matches before putting it on the line.
Nedlands spokesman Tony Ball has been quoted as follows.
We, the mighty Nedlands machine challenge West's for the right to be true holder's of the cup and as such will bring it up to Bennett Park on Saturday because with our sense of fair play and sportsmanship which we pride ourselves on we consider it the honourable thing to do.
Mr Ball also went on to talk about the 1st round match where the Neddies machine were robbed by some atrocious officiating decisions and how unlucky they were, the best team lost, they are a lot stronger now, our extensive junior program is paying dividends blah blah blah.
A representative from Wests who spoke only on condition of anonymity and who only wished to be known as W Man has expressed a reluctance to accept the challenge but also added that being called out by the Nedlands Club means that to have any kind of credibility and being able to hold their heads high in public ensures that they have to accept Nedlands challenge.
W Man also went on to say that Neddies with their record of being perennial finalists in over 600 years will be a tough challenge and can only hope that Neddies don't absolutely destroy Wests and in doing so can also rightfully claim to be the true and rightful holders of the cup.
