Gold, as usual from Gunny.
Well, you can bang on about consumption of fossil fuels and thrashw@nking about saving the world till the cows come home but if you are flying all over the world in jumbo's and getting filmed advertising Landrovers driving up mountain tracks, driving to training in a car, using electricity from a power grid to provide energy for your home, having a hot shower heated with gas, living in a house that was formerly indigenous land and sharing a lock on with a 5th generation farmer whose relatives cut all the farking trees down and poisoned the aquafers and rivers with fertilisers and toxins and introduced many feral animals and plants........you look like a hypocrite
Dead set

some hippy vegan chick on my facebook, who continually posts rubbish about protest-this-protest-that-signup-for-some-petition, has made a post to all her hippy vegan mates saying they need to email the ARU and Brumbies to show support for Pocock.
I sat there and read it and went, "why?"
Without reading a drop of news on this, I assume Pocock was issued a warning by the ARU for breaching the terms of his contract, which probably says "dont get arrested"
Im unsure what a bunch of emails from smelly dreadlocked tree huggers will achieve.
I don't think this would carry a criminal conviction though would it?
It'll probably be a minor breach for something like disturbing the peace or failing to obey a lawful direction. I think unlikely to prevent him traveling. The major issue would be the bad press for the ARU, all contracts would include some clause (in lawyer-speak) which bans him from participating in any activities which piss off a large sector of the Australian public.
Given the issue, I think he would have been warned against public support of either side of this debate, since there are almost as many "Smelly dreadlocked pinko lezzo tree huggers" as there are "honest hard working coal miners".

Tree hugging hippies see criminal convictions like this as badges of honour.
Uncle Boog is right, the ARU letter would have effectively said "don't be an arse and get yourself arrested".
People can whinge about it until the cows come home if they want but it doesn't change the fact that he has probably violated the terms of his employment.

He broke the law and will get away with a misdemeanour. However he knowingly broke the law so the ARU's actions are justified.
My wife said to me as a role model in rugby who would you rather for kids pocock or JOC. The answer is obvious for a variety of reason one of which good on David for taking a stand (no matter what I think of it) for a cause he believes in.
Generally speaking you aren’t learning much if your lips are moving!!!
It's a storm in a teacup, but it will be interesting to see how it plays out in comparison with the treatment of the famed bad boy backs of the Wallabies.
The ARU don't really have much of a leg to stand on after letting Beale off with a fine......Does Pocock make a lot of money?
