    Dear Chertubler et al
    Rocky Champs 2nds results are
    Rocky 25 SL 0 Ft
    Rocky 15 ARKS 47
    Rocky 0 Joond 22
    Rocky 25 Swans 0 Ft
The Rocky 2nds have not actually won a game on the field yet. I make that 65 points for and 69 against. As the former Rocky 4th grade they had one 14 all draw and three losses the combined result on the losses being 95 points to 5 or an average of about 32 to 2.
Rocky Champ 1sts have played four and won two and lost two. Two wins against weak opposition in which they ran up a lot of points. Now the Rocky champ 1s are the former Rocky Prem 2nds and before going into the Championship they had not won a game drew 1 and losing 3 by a combined total of 119 points to 19 which is close to an average of 40 points to 6 and the fourth game was a 20 - 20 draw.

    Dear Ex Pat,
Rocky only have 3 senior sides. I think Wanneroo have 7 including Colts.

to be fair Southern Lions are Pld 8 Lost 8 For 65 Against 459 (average 8 - 57) and Swan aren't doing much better pld 8 Lost 7 For 109 Against 341 (Average 14 - 43) so to go on about having beaten them is nothing special. What do you suggest, they get kicked down to champ 2nds because you think they are not worthy?

There has been post's put here regarding rocky 2nds being dropped because of safety issues from rugby WA what is the difference if they are going to do it to one club cause of safety surely it has to apply to other clubs

the people who dribble on about safety being an issue are idiots, the front row is the only place on a park where serious damage can occur if not up to standard, and even then the opposing (dominating) front row/pack should keep the scrum up and square. I do in part agree with you and am sympathetic that rocky have been ditched, but if every grade got rid of the teams playing bad there would need to be 8 grades of about 5 teams in each. i don't think it would work.

Chertubler, Sadly you are not familiar with the whole story. You can rest assured that getting Rocky strong and viable is a very high priority. That catchment area offers huge potential for growth.

Have a look at it from all other Premiergrade clubs. Each Saturday they put on Premiergrade, Reserve Grade, 3rds, 4ths and a Colts. Rocky had Premiergrade, Reserve grade and 4ths - No Colts, No thirds - what should be done here?

Rocky have 40 players covering Premiergrade and Reserve Grade, explain how they will survive an 18 week competition ?

Is it not a better option to bite the bullet now, support the efforts of Rocky in putting a competitive team in Premier grade on the paddock for season 2013, allow their Reserve Grade to get some wins under their belt in Championship comp. ( sadly no one can predict which teams can forfeit from week to week.) Continue discussions with Rocky committee to try and find what assistance is needed to retain the juniors, grow numbers in seniors and get them back into Premier comp.?

Any other ideas, suggestions initiatives, please share them. If as a community, we don't look to the bigger picture, we'll all fail.

There have been a few initiatives over the years to try and help Rocky, some good. League next door does pose a problem unique to Rocky that needs a special counter strategy, but at what point does Rocky step up to the plate and grow their club?

Current Rocky committee is hugely dedicated and unless the wider membership gets up and rallies behind these guys, blaming RugbyWA for all the failings will not help.

So your comments about safety don't matter now?

The decision to split a struggling club is ludicrous and such a move mid season reflects political agenda amidst some serious lack of forethought. That's RugbyWA
Efforts to help clubs can continue in background and the results be reflected in next season's placement and that can be in the club's hands.
Results for the rest of the season will be predictable for home and away games now and do nothing for the current playing squads as far as retention is concerned.
The safety issue is front row and the fact that comp rules require an adequate number for competitive games and that is now an issue when a squad is split up ... if the 2nd Grade has to dip into lower sides, where do they go ... ?
To dismiss any discussion about safety is appalling ... club officials, referees, coaches and players all have a duty of care. Has that been forgotten?

There's a thread on these forums called Restructure ... stick your comment in there and keep this discussion about rugby. Round 8 is over, let's start a new discussion for the next round ...

Chertubler: 5th line down from my post. 40 players for Premier and Reserve over 18 weeks.

If you think that's safe when next grade down is 4ths, then happy for you to offer to underwrite.

chertubler you're obviously a dedicated rocky supporter so just a couple of quick questions, the smoke signals eminating from the deep south tell me there's going to be a big pow wow tomorrow regarding the playing situation there and in particular questions over incumbent president any truth in this
and secondly and more concerning are the old committee getting organised to take over again, speaking from an outsiders point of view the club seems to be moving forward financially with the new committee and surely going back would be a huge backwards step again any truth in this, would be great to see all the people down there working together but alas doesnt seem to be so

Yes there is a meeting regarding current situation, as for current president have heard a few rumours regarding deal done with rugby WA but only that maybe hansie might no more. As for old committee think they are happy just to watch the games. There are alot of passionate people down rocky way as at every club just sometimes people don't agree with some decisions
