Well this year is going to be very interesting as far as Locks transferring or staying with their current clubs. It seems all of the locks are currently “Keeping options open” as every club has starting locks coming off contract.
The list includes:
Sitaleki Timani
Kane Douglas
Hugh MMM
Hugh Pyle
Rob Simmons
Cadeyrn Neville
Sam Wykes
Toby Lynn
(If there are more please let me know!)
Eastern States press rumour is Rob Simmons is a target. So the question is who do you think the Force should the target/retain?
Generally speaking you aren’t learning much if your lips are moving!!!
Retain Hugh MMM and Lynn and try to get Kane Douglas (as I doubt we could get Gomer)
Pfffft like anyone else will be head hunting Sam Wykes.....
I wouldn't worry about trying to poach any big names from over east.
They come to WA, do the minimum contract required, collect their inflated salaries and bugger off back over east.
NSW and QLD whinge about having their players poached by other states and complain that states like WA don't have the required infrastructure to retain a super rugby franchise.
Some idiot suggested a third tier rugby championship, which would basically consist of Shute shield clubs.
No mention of WA in the program.
Surely to goodness there are players playing in the local premier grade competition who would be worthy of a spot on the Force playing squad.
If these are guys from WA it would prevent the happenings of the past where they have collected the money and then run leaving WA rugby weaker as a result

Err. That would be JoN!

Err. Unless somebody has a secret signing this season. No
Given the lack of depth of locks in Australian rugby we should have 4 in the main squad and one in the EPS. It would be realistc and good to make that 2 high quality locks, 1 journeyman and two prospects.
An ideal/realistic situation would be:
MMM
Rob Simmons
Sam Wykes or Toby Lynn
Phoenix Battye (who will need to step up soon)
+ 1 EPS lock.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
Toby would be pretty close to rob Simmons in quality. I don't have a lot of time for Simmons, he doesn't have the quality of game to back up his 'hard man' attempts, making him look petulant and dirty.
Madness on the other hand is a hardass mongrel bastard of a lock who has no regard for his health when playing the game, smashing the crap out of some of the biggest and 'ardest forwards in Super Rugby.
Can't wait to see them cross swords next week in Brissy, I predict Simmons will run crying home to mummy.
As for Toby, not up to the mongrel standard of Madness, but certainly on par with shirt lifter Simmons.
Sammy Wykes needs to step up or he'll be booking flights to Japan.
C'mon the![]()

I have the feeling that Simmons is about to pull his head in and come good. He is also 5 years younger than Lynn.

If the ponies are sniffing around Pyle and MMM then either Fardy or Carter or both must be up as well?
