Hey Gents
Weather the pirates make anything or nothing we all won tonight being able to watch the game of rugby for a small fee to cover the cost I enjoyed the hospitality of the pirates... Well domne and I think more of this should happen each yr in the off season ... to give the lads a run against more teams to promote the game played in heaven
Thanks Mandurah Pirates
I agree Tonkar....times like this are the only opportunity I can justify to take my entire family to the rugby.
I too am appreciative of the Pirates' hospitality.

Force getting back to grass roots a little........great initiative
Spread the game a little wider
Hopefully they will take a game to various centres going forwards. That is how you spread the gospel. Bunbury, Albany etc etc
Up front there oughta be a man in black
You'll never see bright colours on my back......
Until things are brighter, I'm the man in black
Great point MIB. It was a good night, really. But there was room for at least another 500, comfortably. They may have been restricted by health and safety concerns. Perhaps if this initiative is on-going it would be good to spread some complimentary tix around the schools to allow a child and accompanying adult.

From a Pirates Facebook user
Chris Forward On behalf of the Mandurah Pirates thank you Western Force for giving us the opportunity to raise the rugby profile in the Mandurah/Peel region. The evening was a great success. The reason for the restricted numbers was that this was the first event of this nature hosted by the club and we wanted to ensure the event was effectively organized and managed for those attending to have a great night. We will definitely look at increasing the numbers next time. Thanks everyone for coming down. See you next time! Go Force! Go Pirates!
Nice to hear the reason was good old fashioned "service"
Sounds like a good enough reason. I can't complain about my 'seat'

I spoke to one of the Mandurah officials and he told me that they only sold 1500 tickets. Then they were told this week that their lights is not good enough, so they had to hire the additional lights costing them $16 000! So I don't think they made any money last night. Still put on a good show.

If that's true then it's very dissappointing. It was a great initiative, a good night out and an ok game to watch.
A learning experience and if the Pirates did come out in the red perhaps they deserve another shot. Especially given that their intention was more about putting on a good experience for the patrons and showing the game in a new area than squeezing every possible dollar out of it.
Given the criticisms that started even before the event that might be a stretch.

Just to make it clear that the 1500 tickets were the max they could sell, so it was a sell out. Pity though as there prob was room for another 500 or show. They put on a great show and deserve to make a profit!
