JUST 8000 Australians will be able to attend the Anzac Day Dawn Service at Gallipoli in 2015.
The government of Australia and New Zealand have agreed to conduct national ballots for 10,000 spots at the centenary service.
The places will be allocated on a 4-1 Australia to New Zealand ratio.
Veteran Affairs Minister Warren Snowdon said all Australian would be able to register for the ballot.
Mr Snowdon also announced a public consultation so all Australians could have a say about who should be represented at Gallipoli in 2015.
The Anzac site is surrounded by thick scrub, steep hills and the Aegean Sea.
“Due to the geographic and safety constraints a limit of 10,000 public places exist for the dawn service,” Mr Snowdon said.

I remember some discussion regarding ANZAC Day 2015 on here a while ago so figured I would post this up here
I'm thinking of pasing on turkey, but going to France and the Somme if I go over
I know my chances of getting my name drawn would be slim. But if I was drawn out and someone who's grandfather or father was killed there missed out it wouldn't be fair.

Family is thinking of going to Albany.
I'd love to go to Villers Bretoneaux some day. Maybe Nov 11?
The long sobs of autumn's violins wound my heart with a monotonous languor
Yes we were talking of Albany
Chuck Norris has the greatest Poker-Face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker, despite holding only a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoly card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game Uno.
For the family of WW2 who were in Asia the dawn service at Hellfire Pass in Thailand (where Weary Dunlops ashes were spread) is a very moving spot too.
I went to Hellfire, not on a memorial day though. It was the most haunting day of my life. Ill post a pic shortly

so much for the ANZAC spirit Burgs![]()
I guess it depends on where your relatives fought, were wounded or died. Mouquet Farm near Poziers would probably have more meaning to me.
Was in Gallipoli March this year, our guide said thay were expecting 50000 in 2015 and he didn't know where everyone would stay as there is very little accomodation in area. It is about a 5 hours bus trip from Istanbul. Some will be on cruise ships off shore.
I did research earlier this year, those on the Cruise ships will not be allowed onto the shore for the dawn service and will be stuck on the ship. Stuff that for a joke, I'll most probably do Albany and then do Turkey the year later. All the facilities will have been upgraded for the 2015 service and less hassles getting there![]()
