As the Games come to an end, share your favourite moments in time during this festival of sport.
For me, one of the best was the unscripted amazement and then the ecstasy of the moment when Carmelita Jeter anchored the United States to its first Olympic gold medal in the women's 4x100-meter relay since 1996, in the process breaking a 27 year old "dirty" World Record of Eastern Germany's.
To make it clear, the thread isn't intended to be about favourite result, more about "the moment". It may be the crowd clapping home Sarah Attar, the first Saudi Arabian track and field athlete or bravery in the face of defeat etc.
"Bloody oath we did!"
Nathan Sharpe, Legend.
Don't have any images to post as my iPad doesn't let me, but my gold, silver and bronze moments from London 2012 are as follows:
Gold - seeing Mo Farrah - a Somali refugee given asylum by Britain at the age of 8 - winning the 5000m and 10,000m gold medals! Just awesome!
Silver - seeing the huge smile on a young volunteer's face when Usain Bolt did "knuckles" with him and then gave him his beanie before the 100m. Just priceless!
Bronze - seeing a kid at breakfast in my hotel going round with a big Union Jack flag collecting signatures of all the kids in the room from other nations. That, right there, sums up what the spirit of the Olympics is all about for me.
Bring on Rio 2016

This was a moment that will stick with me for these games. Brazil choking just like an AB team at the RWC (not this year though..)
THE HIGHS Brazil up two sets to nil with two match points and serving for gold against Russia
Then down and out Russia come back thanks to this 2.18m giant spiker who was anonymous for the first three sets
Russia came back to win 3 sets to 2
THE LOWS
Man, you had to feel for the Brazilians..

Jamaica in the men's 4x100 - was good as i'd bet on Bolt bagging 3 golds. But his feint to pass the batton to one of the volunteers after the finish was funny too. He almost did it and you could see him have a rethink at the last second.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa
Huge thanks to you Burgs for uploading those photos for me - awesome! I swear someone photoshopped my butt onto that woman's body though![]()

So many moments but here are a few that stood out for me...
Manteo Mitchell in the 4 x 400m relay broke his leg but still managed to finish
Oscar Pistorius .... need I say more!
Hamadou Djibo Issaka from Niger only started training for the Olympics 3 months prior. He finished last but still recieved a standing ovation from the crowd
Liu Xiang from China ruptured his achilles in the first heat of the 110m hurdles, the two competitors that helped him off showed true sportsmanship
Benita Willis finished the marathon in 100th place despite having a torn hip tendon

The picture for me..I don't know how to download it... was the face of the Mens' Marathon winner..sitting on the road with his hands above his head with a huge winner's grin....I think that summed up the race for me..![]()
Stephen Kiprotich - was an epic run

This one Hertryk?
Was an awesome effort to beat out the Kenyan's!
This guy did 10km in 31mins where it takes me 51 (and i'm knackered) but then he does it 4.2 times in a row with no slowing at all...
Guess that's why he's a gold medal winner!
