Today I had a chat with Westies Man.
Westies is a grizzled campaigner of a thousand battles, an immovable and passionately biased supporter of his club. I respect him for that. I'm the same.
Westies said he hadn't seen me much lately on the forum, and I told him I'd been ill, and busy, and that a few other things had taken a priority in my life.
He told me he had been banned from the site. I asked him what had led to this extraordinary event. He said he'd made some sexist, and probably inappropriate comments under some provocation, and had been asked to apologise for same.
He had extended the apology sought, but since then he hadn't been able to post on the site.
Now I know that being sexist or making inappropriate comments is not of itself a ban-able offence on TWF. Happy's elevation to moderator is a testament to that. (No offence Happy, but you sure come out with some doozys from time to time; not that I give a stuff)
So my question is, has Westie been banned, and if so, what does he have to do to be able to post again?
Just to make it clear, I have no fondness for his club, nor their recruitment tactics, nor their rugby philosophy, but I do believe, within the bounds of propriety and decency, every one is entitle to express their opinion, no matter how ill founded, without big brother stepping in.
So tell me where I've got it wrong.
