I guess we won't be offering him $600,000 in round two of negotiations "if" they happen

I'm in shock! No, not that the Genia deal isn't as done and dusted as was reported, but that a Bret Harris article didn't blame the Force for everything:
Of course, this should be taken with the large pinch of salt which is common for all Bret Harris articles!Genia agreed to terms with the Force last Thursday and told Reds coach Ewen McKenzie he was leaving after their win against the Blues in Auckland last Friday night. Queensland - in breach of ARU protocols - issued a media release last Saturday night announcing Genia was leaving to join the Force.
I wanted to quote that paragraph as well Sheikh, but I was going to be pointing to the part that wasn't in dispute, Queensland breaching protocols.....regarding contracting, we have been fined before for undertaking a process which everyone was doing but was within guidelines, the guidelines were changed when we made use (admittedly excessive use) of them.......What are Queensland going to be hit with?
Ps bad taste, we don't want him, he sounds like a mercenary......probably a bit like JOC VERY poorly advised by his management. On top of all that, we can't afford him (I don't think anybody in Australia can!)

That is a fair point, what will the ARU hit QRU with for that obvious breech??

After all the cluster###k re Genia's $600,000-must be hitting Reds egos pretty hard. Genia's only had 1 decent game this season but he's to get more money than all of them together! If the Force had been silly enough to pay it Poey & Sharpie would have been gutted to be the captain and best players and Genia to have just sauntered in on a huge wad of cash.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
Did anyone see the program, 'The Back Page' on fox sports news 513 last night, where they were discussing the Genia debarcle and the old fart on the left of the panel said why would he want to go west and never be heard of again and probably not get paid, words to that effect, who are these knobs, especially the ahole with the bald head an long hair?
The one sporting the bald mullet is Billy Birmingham. A very funny guy AKA The Twelfth Man. The old fart on the left is Gibbo (Mike Gibson). He's mainly a Mungo journalst and TV presenter who's been around for a very long time. I think he may have scooped the Dally Messenger story in 1907.

Billy Birmingham is hilarious. Bring back Kerry O'keefe as well, funniest laugh in history.
And WTF has noddy got to do with this debacle?
Seriously though (its hard to be serious hehe), what a mummers farce. Qld talks out of turn, scuppers a genuine contract, then signs one that has no validity? Genia is being led around by the nose, these managers need to be dealt with, and licensed if they are not currently.
And what about links disingenuous statements?
Good grief.
There needs to be a transfer window like in soccer, the contracts have to be a littel bit longer so the players have some stability (two years upped to three for instance, or four for a gun), and contact negotiations (with the current franchise only) started the year before the contract runs out.
To say it has been a topsy-turvy week would be an understatement.
In the most bizarre circumstances, the Queensland Reds released a statement on Saturday night saying that Will Genia had signed with the Western Force when no documentation had been signed.
Off the back of the media storm that ensued, Genia decided to remain in Queensland.
Whether it was a strategic ploy from the Reds only those within the organisation will know.
One thing is clear, the Western Force did all they could to secure a great player and despite missing out this time it won't dampen the enthusiasm the club has about bringing the best to Perth.
etc etc...
