Neddies start with a bang
By RugbyWA Media
The opening round of the Pindan Premier Grade has seen some strong performances across the five matches with Nedlands flexing their muscle and exacting some revenge on reigning champions UWA in the Grand Final replay after a 32-19 win.
Neddies had a summer to think about their shock defeat in the final last season and responded with a performance that will go some way to erase their demons however only a premiership will be good enough for a club that demands excellence in every grade.
At Rosalie Park Emirates Western Force marquee player Napolioni Nalaga was the star attraction as he made a successful return from an ankle injury to play 35 minutes for Palmyra. Several strong carries received a big ovation from the crowd and he was able to celebrate a win as Pally secured a 13-11 result. Wests Subiaco scored a late try and had a chance to level the scores but missed the conversion on the final buzzer.
In the battle of Broome Street it was Associates that earned bragging rights over Cottesloe with a 23-12 win at Harvey Field, while in other matches Wanneroo celebrated long time Roo Dog JR Smith’s 101st Pindan Premier Grade game with a 38-12 defeat of Rockingham while Perth Bayswater made the most of their home ground advantage to notch a thumping 32-3 win over Kalamunda.
