Get on down this Saturday evening for a balmy twilight match at the club. RugbyWA’s match between Perth Gold & Perth Kiwi will be hosted by our club. Kick off is at 6pm at Pat O’Hara Reserve. They will play 4 x 20min quarters with 5 mins between each.
The Perth Gold squad is the senior representative team from WA’s Club Rugby competition and as such is made up of the best amateur players in the State.
The Perth Kiwi squad is a selection team of players from within the WA clubs that are also able to be selected for the Perth Gold but as you know we can only have so many players in a team! Perth Kiwi will provide a great quality and very competitive opposition, this will assist in Perth Gold’s team preparation.
Bar and Canteen will be operating and it will be a great follow on from the Jnr Registration day being held from 12-6pm. Come on down and see what some of WA’s best rugby players have to show.
Presentation of the trophy to the winning team will follow immediately after the end of the game by Richard Graham.

Perth Kiwi won It was good rugby from the word go. Perth Kiwi scored first about 2 minutes into the game. Gold scored 3 tries( I think) after that. Perth Kiwi came back and scored 3 tires in the second half to win the game.
Lots of skill and talent in both teams but I think Perth Kiwi won it on size. Overall it was a good pre season game of rugby.
Final Score Perth Kiwi 20 def Perth Gold 19

So with the results of this game last night and the players performance should more of the players that represented Perth Kiwi be considered for Perth Gold?
I think the kiwis played a very good game but the gold I feel were victims of circumstance.
They were up 3 tries to 1 with about 10 to go and doing it easy. The kiwis in the final 10 got a run on and score a few quick try’s.
The simple answer is that the gold ran out of legs and why you ask...3/4 of them played a game 2 day prior. I’m sorry to say but I don’t care who you are that will take it out of you and you are going to feel it come the end.
So well done to the Kiwis on a great match but I hope they look at the fixtures next year if they want to make it an annual event and make it an even playing field.
“Everyone knows whether it’s rugby, politics or whatever, front-rowers should rule the world, so to have a hooker at the helm makes sense,” Nathan Charles Western Force & Wallabies Hooker.
There are some great players here in Perth - there should be some good club rugby played this year - roll on the start of the season!
I heard Perth Gold were palying at Cottelsoe on Thursday Night.....any details??
