Excitement builds as Force sign Fiji winger
NICK TAYLOR, The West AustralianSeptember 5, 2011, 7:16 am
Fijian flyer Napolioni Nalaga will be the Western Force international marquee signing for the 2012 Super season.
The Rugby World Cup game breaker will be a perfect replacement for Kiwi winger David Smith and will become a cult figure for Force fans.
The cashed-up Force, with money to spare after the loss of Wallaby James O'Connor, had spoken to Kiwi Sonny Bill Williams about a move across the Tasman, but Nalaga's signing will stop further speculation about Williams' move to WA.
The Force would not confirm Nalaga's signing last night, but Force coach Richard Graham has been searching worldwide for a replacement for Smith.
Nalaga, last year's leading French Top 14 try scorer and the Fiji Sevens outside back, who is part of the Pacific island's World Cup squad, has been playing for ASM Clermont Auvergne.
He was a member of the French Dream team - the last Fijian to win that award was Rupeni Caucau in 2006.
He has not played international rugby this year, but was called up to the Fiji national team for the IRB Pacific Nations Cup.

mods - should this be here or should he have his own thread?... then again it isn't official yet...
the video on the news article shows him getting a lot of fairly clean, front foot ball. he does seem to have some really good pace and great fend. It would be nice to have a winger be able to beat people down the tramlines and be able to fend anyone who catches him.
looks good so far.
That highlights package does look good but then thats why they are put together - He does look a beast and can play 13 as well - lets just hope his domestic wanderings are over and that we get some ball to him... it took about 8 games for Smith to see the ball last year but when he did he was awesome. I suppose without brand JOC trying to everything himself there is a chance. Here's Hoping
