The St.George Reds Super Rugby Final against the Crusaders has sold-out with tickets no longer on sale for Saturday’s historic encounter at Suncorp Stadium.
St.George Reds First XV full season Members took advantage of their priority purchase period where they had the right to purchase their existing regular season seat allocation before tickets went on sale to the general public.
Full season Members were not permitted to purchase further tickets during their two-day opportunity, which closed at 5:00pm Tuesday evening.
The remaining tickets went on sale to the general public at 9:00am on Wednesday morning and took just 45 minutes before the final ticket was sold.
It’s the second time in 2011 the Reds have soldout Suncorp Stadium with the ‘full house’ sign also going up against the Crusaders in round 15, the match setting an Australian Super Rugby attendance record of 48,301.
That mark is set to be smashed on Saturday night along with the century old attendance record for a provincial rugby match played in Australia – set on July 13, 1907 when a clash between NSW and the All Blacks at the Sydney Cricket Ground attracted 49,327.
The Reds qualified for the Super Rugby Final following a dominant 30-13 victory over the Blues at the weekend, while the Crusaders were equally as impressive in defeating the Stormers 29-10 in Cape Town.
Fans are encouraged to get to the encounter early and soak up all the atmosphere and entertainment organised within the precinct from 5:30pm.
