The supposed 20% short fall shouldn't make a difference if the above quote attributed to James is accurate ..I haven't made a decision yet, but it'll be a footy decision
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
is it wrong to be wrong?
Link has made it clear that the Reds are not throwing big bucks at him. If he signs, it will be based on the fact that he will be back home and he sees the rugby style as better suiting his game. He probably sees a potential super 15 trophy as well.
Plus I suspect Chambers won't be a Red much longer - a few extra $$$$ there.
If all the big bucks comes from ARU and independent 3rd parties, surely Link would have little to do with how much he gets? Unless there's some breach of protocols going on![]()

Perhaps a poll on where JOC's signing will be announced?

If he goes how do we fill the back line void of him and Smith?
Simon Cron: “People talk about winning and losing all the time and they are critical, but there’s a process to get into and it’s the ability to stay present, do your job and execute skills under pressure.”
Smith can be covered by any number of up-n-comers... however we need a Marquee signing that has star power... JOC i believe is our highest paid player so there will be plenty of moolah to try get someone over thats not happy being second string to players like SBW, Muliaina, Steyn, Lambie etc..
IF JOC goes....
separately:
indications are that its NOT third party agreements as Force reps have indicated they have upped their offer. they would not be able to do this if they were third party offers surely?

i would rather see him stay at the Force for the overall sake of Australian Rugby, he is more essential to the EWF then he is to the Reds.
If he comes to the Reds then you have to give him some credit, because it wont be for the money thats for sure.
What exactly is the situation regarding the new salary cap? Surely if it is not a 3rd party problem it must be a Force payment problem. Are we still limited to 110,000 plus benefits? Or are we now constrained by the cap? In that case the Reds may be able to offer him more money as they currently have the lowest player payment obligations in Australia. Ironic really and credit to the Reds for it.
JO'C to the Reds is not dissimilar to Quade Cooper to the Force last year. It would be great to think about but the damage to either side renders it contrary to the long-term health of the code.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
Even from a rugby perspective, the amount of jinking, sidestepping and lateral running that Cooper does will surely play JOC out of the game at 12 - unless he's used on the wing or at fullback. Either that or he will be moulded into their new 10 for when Cooper heads to league...
