The commitment and longevity of players plying their trade in the local leagues continues to reap magnificent milestones with Njalikwa Chongwe, aka Jello, set to play his 400th game for Curtain Rugby Club this Saturday.
Jello will become the first player to achieve the quadruple century for the club when he runs out against old foes the Southern Lions.
The industrious halfback started his illustrious career as a colt in 1983 and was part of the club when Southern Lions split off in 1987.
An elite athlete, Jello continues to train hard and flogged the beep test during a tough pre-season training schedule.
A determined competitor who always strives for the best, Jello has captained the side to two premierships, played in the Combined University games against various touring sides, and represented the WA ‘City’ side in games against WA Country and against NSW U21’s.
Jello has won the clubs Best and Fairest and Players' Player awards on numerous occasions and is set to make his international debut in the Bali 10's this October.
A highly regarded and respected player both on and off the field, Jello also has a mischievous streak a mile wide and team mates have always wondered how he has lasted this long!
RugbyWA would like to congratulate Jello on this significant milestone and we wish him the best of luck in his special game.

Good on ya Jello!
it is interesting watching him change positions from 7 to 9 in the same match... plays a bit with the mind!

Congratulations Jello on an incredible rugby innings.
An evergreen player who always plays a hard and fair game.
WA's version of George Gregan.
Hope you enjoy the occasion and the Goats taste victory. Do they still drink Tusker Beer down at Curtin? Should be a good night.
Can somebody shed some truth on this story for me - it was told to me some years ago but I never believed it... Apparently the Goats were short of meat for a bbq one day so Jello went down to the lake at the other end of the oval, submerged himself up to his neck and waited for a duck to swim past?
Congrats Jello - well done son.
when they keep glancing over at me i know they think iam cute and are checking me out -Kalafan 10/3/10

Ecky..did you ever give him a yellow or red card??
I don't recall ever sending him from the field.
I do recall he is a typical #9 - mouthy git who's not afraid to assist the ref with what's going on...
Someone told me once he's from Zambia - like George Gregan. Can't remember if they also said Jello & George played together, or went ot the same school, or something like that. Maybe it was just the same hairstyle... certainly the same "ref assisting" playing style.
one of the blokes Paul mullins went to school with gregan, not sure about jello though...
I'll have to ask about the duck incident... i'll keep you posted!
And if you're interested, he's playing at 2.10 at the goat paddock (Edinburgh oval) at curtin uni.

Since when has McGillivray been at Curtin? (Note the correct spelling}.
