I got this as a present.
The person who gave me this thought that I am a springbok supporter.....
I am trying to get info on this, when taken, venue, reason photo taken, etc
I'm thinking this was taken after 1993, 'cause these are all Springbok Captains and Danie Craven is not there (died in 1993)
I've emailed a picture to a few people in Saffaland and 1 mate emailed back saying that he showed it to a passionate springbok collector and he is willing to pay up to R25 000 (AU $3600) for it, so I'm thinking there must be something valuable about it, unless he's just cashed up.
Any Saffers that maybe got connections or mates that are passionate supporters that might be able to get me some info would be appreciated.
I did email the SA rugby museum, but I got them stumped, they'll get back to me.
I've also emailed about 5 other sites and waiting on feedback from them.
Size of the frame is 1025mm x 575mm

"Remember lads, rugby is a team game; all 14 of you make sure you pass the ball to ..........."
hell of a memento you have there Tdevil... many of those players are Boks legends.
Piet Greyling, Basie Vivier and Dawie de Villiers in Particular..
Dawie Devilliers is still quite young there probably in his mid thirties so id say this is likely to be Late 1970's early 80's .. It doesnt have Theuns Stofberg (1980) though so id say its more likely late 1970's
I think you close with the dates Zimeric.
Just had a look at all the guys on the photo
Hennie Muller (4th from the right) passed away in 1977, so it must be prior to 1977
Hannes Marais was captain in 1974
So this photo was taken between 1974 and 1977

Success is not final, failure is not fatal:
it is the courage to continue that counts.

Don't have a pool room.....yet
"Remember lads, rugby is a team game; all 14 of you make sure you pass the ball to ..........."
tdevil - "Lindy, we need to build a pool room for the cool picture, its an Australian thing"
TG - Lindy says we can build the pool room, BUT not for that picture.
She only wants Wallabies and Force pictures in the pool room

Simon Cron: “People talk about winning and losing all the time and they are critical, but there’s a process to get into and it’s the ability to stay present, do your job and execute skills under pressure.”
For those interested, I've emailed the SA Rugby museum again and eventually they came back with:
Hi Marius.
The photo was taken at Ellis Park In Johannesburg on 18th September 1976 on
the day of the fourth test match between S.A. and N.Z. I contacted
Nelie Smith - 2nd from right on photo - who was then a Springbok selector -
and he told me there was no official meeting of the captains but they were
all there so a reporter Joe Venter asked Abel Jones - photographer - to get
them together and took the photo.
Hope this is OK by you.
Best regards.

That explains why Morne Du Plessis is not in the Picture. He would have been on the field.
