"The main difference between playing League and Union is that now I get my hangovers on Monday instead of Sunday - Tom David
I just hope they give a decent representation of rugby played at the top level. The group hug and shuffle at 1:28 doesn't bode well.
Maybe its just me but did anyone else's hair stand up on the back of there necks watching that. Looks as if it could be a classic. And their does appear to be a bit of Rugby in it. All that matter's is that it will give the game alot more exposure in the States.
the footage of Lomu was pretty convincing...
ill watch it![]()
Release date... Jan 10... Nice one just before the Super 14 season starts...
I was fortunate to be in Jo'Burg in 1995 on a uni rugby tour and though we never actually watched the game in Ellis Park, we watched the game live in a shebeen. As one of the few All Black supporters, it was a difficult game to watch amongst the enemy and was absolutely devastated at the conclusion of the game.
However, that disappointment of loss quickly dissipated amid the euphoria that was spilling out onto the streets. Amazing scenes of South Africans of all races dancing and singing on the streets that night, will be an everlasting memory.
I'm looking forward to reliving that moment.
They are saying several Academy Awards are in the future, so I'd guess that they did a good job. It's certainly has a great cast. There's a huge marketing blitz going on right now and they are gearing it towards sports fans. It is the main commercial shown multiple times every game in the MLB playoffs. I think the release date is Dec. 11th in time for the holiday season.
LOL. Yeah Melbournians will feel hard done by then. From the sounds of it, the movie will have a hell of alot of publicity. Hopefully its a huge hit. and of course more Americans get to see how wonderful the great game of Rugby is.
hopefully it isn't all hype...
Was fortunate enough to watch Invictus.
Directed by Clint Eastwood and Starring Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandella and Matt Damon as Francoir Penoir (please forgive the spelling)
It is more about Nelson Mandella trying to bring his country together by utilising the Springboks which were seen very much as part of the old Apartheid minority regime then about Rugby or the Rugby World Cup.
Should the opportunity arise to watch this movie, I would do so.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa
