This is not the official notice but as I get news on this event I will post it here. Last year was a great success and this year it looks like a 30 team comp. All schools and clubs can enter their U12 team
TThe inaugural Guildford Sevens, hosted
by Guildford Grammar School, was held
on Sunday 7 September 2008. 16 teams
from across the state competed in this very
successful Sevens competition. Our 2008
Champions were Joondalup Brothers (Blues)
who beat Kalamunda Rugby Club (Red) in
the Grand Final in front of a massive crowd
of supporters and rugby lovers. This
competition involved teams from clubs and
schools across our rugby playing
communities.
Our aim was to make the Guildford Sevens
grow, develop and improve year by year
into one of the premier junior rugby
occasions in Western Australia and further
afield. 2008 was a superb start and we are
delighted to be able to continue this
competition on an annual basis.
It is our pleasure to continue this unique
opportunity for clubs and schools to come
together to celebrate the passion, pace and
skills of Rugby 7s. This very popular format
of our game designed to produce quick,
skilful and free-flowing rugby, in which tries
are scored with great regularity, has grown
in popularity throughout the world.
Join us as we strive to continue this exciting
concept and be part of a wonderful day of
exhilarating rugby let us continue to build
on the history and tradition we embarked
upon in 2008.
The Guildford Sevens will be run in an initial
pool round robin format, which will lead
into a second round of strength v strength
games, in three divisions, once again in a
round robin format to determine the top
two teams in each division Championship,
Plate and Bowl which will play each other
in the final of each division.
Irrespective of the success or strength of
each team, all teams that enter are
guaranteed the same number of games
throughout the morning, making the
experience worthwhile for all teams
participating. Teams will all play a minimum
of six games before the top two teams in
each division play each other in the final.
Rugby WA Officers will be present to referee
all games and we hope to have prominent
rugby personalities present to officially open
proceedings, mingle with all players and
supporters, and assist with the presentation
of medals and trophies at the conclusion of
the days play.
