I agree, but we are talking about two different things, and then again RugbyWA was only forecasting a membership base of about 6,000 people when we first got the 4th side

Thats exactly right, we are talking about 2 different things, the fact that Melbourne drew a similar crowd to Canberra in a match minus the star wallabies would indicate to me that it is in a reasonable position to host a S14 team in the future.

Perth over Melbourne was always a no-brainer. The large expat British, South African (and to a lesser extent) NZ citizens were likely to support the franchise.

Maybe you have been misinformed by Spiro what's-his-face at The Roar and some of the other hacks in the Rugby press. Those population demographics are about as credible as Turnbull's e mail. I'd bet next years pay there are many more of all three nationalities living in Melbourne. I recall there was a poll right here at TWF which showed that most supporters, by a fair margin, are native West Aussies.

Well 2000 is many more.........I guess.

All bets off! But I'm only really surprised that there are so many more Brits in WA. The hacks are always on about all the Saffas here. Thought there would be more of them in Melbourne too. Looks like most pick the city that's closest to fly home from.

    Damn statistics shasta

It would be interesting to do the same for the Force Membership though.

Might knock up a poll for TWF origins later on.
