From page 94 of todays Sunday Times, couldn't find it online earlier. I'm sure it will pop up eventually
Mitch Junior Shuns Rugby
Braden Quartermaine
He grew up with his Dad in charge of the All Blacks, but Daryl Mitchell is more at home on the Cricket field. Mitchell is the 17 year old son of Western Force coach John, is a promising cricketer and Rugby player, but has decided to overlook his fathers game to pursue a first class cricket career in WA.
The all-rounder, who took 4-26 in the recent first grade final to help Scarborough to victory over Bayswater-Morley, also played under-16 state rugby.
"I'm more passionate about the cricket side of things" Mitchell said. "I'm just trying to get fitter and stronger. I'm taking a year off rugby becasue there's no point getting injured and missing cricket season"
Mitchell, who described his father as a pretty useless cricketer, said his family were supportive of his decision.
If his rapid progression continues, New Zealand born Mitchell could find himself with an interesting quandry, given that he would be eligible to play cricket for Australia or the Black Caps.
very interesting
but good luck to him!
BOKKE“Let me put it this way, A Springbok team contains Afrikaners, Englishmen, coloureds and blacks. It has parochial foes in Bulls, Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Lions. It is a recipe for war! Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. The man is a legend!”- Jake White

Didn't he play flyhalf for the WA under 16 team last year?
Pretty hard for any kid to live up to the expectations put on him with a sports star father.
Can't balme him for playing another sport.
bit of vitriol there Pruc
wonder how you would go facing him in the nets?
don't forget a helmet

If you can't say anything nice, say nothing, my mother always instilled in me.
I can't say I took that advice too seriously myself, but unless someone is a public figure, it's probably best not to get too personal, pruc.
Now bagging Nedlands, Associates, Wests etc., is another thing altogether.
4/28 in the first grade final definately isn't shabby
