There is still hope for Wallabies reject Phil Waugh

FORMER NSW coach Ewen McKenzie has called on his long-time Waratahs captain Phil Waugh to draw strength from Nathan Sharpe's dramatic career turnaround as he attempts to arrest his own selection slide.
Waugh has started only once on tour, in the Italy Test, nominally the easiest match, although it quickly turned into a dogfight before some Quade Cooper magic right at the death saved the Wallabies from embarrassment.
Otherwise Waugh shared the bench in the Hong Kong Test against New Zealand with rising Western Force openside flanker David Pocock and was not required to suit up as a reserve last weekend against England.
When the team to play France at Stade de France on Sunday morning (EDT) was announced on Tuesday, Waugh's name was not in the 22, with Pocock named as back-up to George Smith.
There is still the Welsh Test to come, as well as the tour-ending match against the Barbarians at Wembley on December 3 to celebrate the centenary of the Wallabies' Olympic gold medal win in 1908.
