Tell us whether or not you think Mitchell should help Australia out in the scrum and why.
Mitchell has committed to Australian rugby and is highly unlikely to ever be invited back into the fold in New Zealand following his very public hanging by the NZRU and media.
Australia and Eddie would be foolish to ignore the offer of assistence from such an experienced forwards coach.
On top of his very succesful, albiet short, time with the All Blacks, Mitchell is credited with having laid the foundations to the England '03 pack and is highly regarded around the rugby world.
I voted yes. Why? Because from what I've read on here, the Wallabies scrum has been sucking lately. They need help and I understand that Mitchell is one tough SOB.
I'm assuming if he helps the Wallabies that it won't affect his task with the Force.
Yeh Mitchell will toughen the pack up. Mind you, I was relatively impressed with Australia's scrummaging last night against Ireland. Would have to because of the debut of Force recruit Dave Fitter of course! :p
You could definately notice the difference when Al Baxter replaced Fitter, the Irish won a tighthead!
Keep Dave in for the Wales game I say - he is the new solution to the Wallabies scrum!
I voted "No", because inevitably John Mitchell would be sucked in almost full time. He is critical to Western Force.
Of course, if it could be guaranteed that it is only occassional engagement to the Wallabies, or after the end of Super 14 seaon for a few weeks, then OK. I'm certain he would add value to the Wallabies. Of corse so also will Ewan McKenzie when he succeeds Eddie Jones.
Mitchells expertise with forwards is obviously something Australian rugby requires at this time. He transformed the English and New Zealand packs pre '03 into the forces they are today.
He has quite clearly stated that any assistance given to the Wallabies would not come at the expense of his Western Force commitments.
I reckon he should - I mean he is about to coach a quarter of them any wayBUT certainly not to the detriment of the Western Force. I am very impressed with his stance and loyalty on this issue so far, and am hoping he keeps it for the duration of his (extended?) contract.
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
