Force pick up classy scrum-half
23rd July 2008, 8:00 WST
NSW scrum-half Josh Valentine yesterday agreed to join Western Force for next year’s Super 14 campaign.
The WA club were glad to reinforce what had been a problem position for them since the sacking last February of Matt Henjak.
Valentine, 25, played four Tests for Australia in 2006 but Wallabies incumbent Luke Burgess supplanted him as Waratahs starter this year.
He will compete with Chris O’Young for the No. 9 jersey, leaving James Stannard surplus to requirements at the Force, who have opted to develop Australian Schoolboys scrum-half...

CLASSY? i think that he should fight really hard to be the starting scrummy AFTER O'Young and Stannard. IMHO i think he should earn his place here, not automatically start at #9 UNLESS he really is 'classy' and good.
Be There. Be Heard. Be The Force Behind The Force
Told you bout Stannard being most likely dropped.
There's already O Young, Valentine, Turner and dont forget Adam Clarke who still 1 year left i think. And on top of that, Jon McGrath is still in perth playing with neddies and in the academy.
The lack of loyalty shown must be excruciatingly painful and foreign to Stannard.
yay my source was right
Dave Hughes saying so doesn't make it so...
Where is the official statement to that effect?
No problem with Valentine at this stage. Wish we still had the ARC to see what we are getting close up.
He's not bad, has served us well as a backup to the benched Sheehan.
Now, now Moses...
From what I saw, this is pretty harsh on Stannard. I thought he looked all right?
I'm willing to give him a chance... but we just didn't need a new halfback! We need some forwards... but we have more than enough choice for a number 9. Chrisso, Chuckie and McGrath are all very willing and capable and we weren't in a huge crisis when Henjak was dropped.
We just don't need someone new. And my heart is breaking for Chuckie. He was barely even given a chance.
I'm not too happy about this. Not too happy at all.
Business over loyalty and development of what we have.
*sigh*
I made Happy sad...
